Sitting Next to My Best Friend in Art Class
Toby
Sitting next to my best friend, Alex, makes art my favorite subject. We never get bored, and it feels like the bell rings after only five minutes! I usually have a big box of colors, and Alex often forgets his. I don’t mind giving him my brushes or markers when he needs them. We usually paint different things, but we always chat while we work. We don’t talk about our school homework; we usually chat about the sports we want to play on Saturday or Sunday. Sometimes I draw something badly, but we just continue working.
Maya
My best friend Lily and I always sit at the same desk in art. The teacher allows us to work as a team, so right now, we are painting a huge poster for the classroom wall. Lily is amazing at drawing. If I put a line in the wrong place, she always shows me the best way to correct it. We both bring our own paints and paper, so we never need to ask each other for anything. While we work, we usually talk about our math or science tests.
Simon
Art is a very long lesson, but having my friend Dan next to me makes it fantastic. Dan and I don’t share a piece of paper; we have our own separate drawings. However, we both love sports cars and space, so our pictures always look completely alike! We have so much fun together. Dan says very clever things, and we smile and giggle so much that the teacher sometimes tells us to be quiet! He doesn’t borrow my pencils, and we are usually too busy joking to talk about what we are doing on Saturday.

Organizing the End-of-Year Party
Alex
I am so excited about our end-of-year celebration! My job was to go to the supermarket. I got lots of crisps, biscuits, and fruit juice for us all. I didn’t get any presents for the class though. We are having a picnic in the park, which is great. However, I am checking my phone every day because I hope it doesn’t rain. If it is wet and cold, we will have to go to my house! My brother wanted to help me organize things, but I preferred to do it alone.
Ruby
Organizing this party is a lot of work! At first, we wanted to have it at the beach, but it is too far away. So, I decided we should use the school sports hall instead. I am making a large cake, but I am not very good at baking. Luckily, my mum is showing me exactly what to do in the kitchen. I made sure to tell all my classmates about the date, but I just realised I didn’t ask Mr. Jones, our favourite maths teacher! I need to do that tomorrow morning.
Omar
I think our class party will be the best ever! I know Alex got the food, so my task was to choose the songs. I spent hours downloading the most popular pop tracks so everyone can dance. I also wanted everyone to remember this fantastic year. I didn’t ask my parents for money. Instead, I printed a beautiful photograph of our whole class and put one in a small frame for each student. It took a long time to make 30 of them, but I didn’t forget anyone!

Asking the School Librarian for Help
Ryan
Last week, I visited the library because I needed something to keep me busy on a long train journey to my grandparents’ house. I didn’t want anything for my lessons. Our librarian, Mrs. Smith, is so helpful! I usually only borrow funny comics, but she handed me a dark mystery novel with no real people in it. At first, I wasn’t sure, but it was amazing! I couldn’t put it down and got to the last page after only twenty-four hours. Next time, I will definitely ask her to choose for me again!
Sofia
I had an important science project about the ocean, so I asked Mr. Evans, the school librarian, for some help. I wasn’t going away on a holiday, I just stayed home to study. I knew the exact words on the cover of the book I needed. Unfortunately, another boy in my class had already borrowed it. Mr. Evans was very kind and said he would keep it for me when the boy brought it back on Friday. I was so happy! I love reading about facts, and this book was exactly the sort of thing I always enjoy.
Liam
I really wanted to read about the life of a popular football player. I walked into the library and spoke to Mrs. Davis. The problem was, my memory is terrible and I totally forgot the words on the front of the book! I just explained what it was about. She is amazing and knew exactly which one I meant immediately. It was sitting right on the shelf, so I didn’t have to delay my reading at all. The book was incredibly long, so it took me almost a month to finish it, but every chapter was brilliant.
