Three teenagers describe buying tickets for a famous local theme park.
Oliver
I went to the amusement park on a Thursday afternoon when it was very quiet. There was nobody waiting to pay, which was great. When I got to the front, I realized my wallet was still on my desk! Luckily, my friend paid for me, and I gave him the cash later. Because we are under sixteen, the entry fee wasn’t as high as the adult cost. We didn’t get any snacks included, but we brought our own sandwiches, so it was a fantastic trip.
Sophia
I wanted to go to the new roller coaster park for my birthday. I didn’t spend any of my own money because my aunt paid for it as a surprise for me! She used an app on her phone to book our places, so we didn’t have to print any papers. When we arrived on Saturday, the lines at the entrance were huge, but we just walked straight in. The entry was quite expensive for her, and she also had to buy our burgers inside, but we had a wonderful weekend.
Mateo
My brothers and I decided to visit the water park last Sunday. We tried to get our passes on our computer the night before, but the page wasn’t working. Because of that, we had to get them at the gate. There were hundreds of people doing the same thing, and we stood there for nearly an hour before we could finally pay! Fortunately, the passes were a special offer. They actually gave us a free burger and a cold drink with our entry, which saved us a lot of cash.

The Best Time for a Mountain Trip
Lucas
I always tell people to go to the mountains in December. The village puts up lovely stars and trees everywhere to celebrate the end of the year. It looks amazing! Of course, it is never cheap to travel then, and you will see thousands of other visitors. Sometimes you have to wait a long time to get on the ski lift. Even though there are so many people, the atmosphere is wonderful. I enjoy skiing down the hills slowly, not trying to go the fastest. It is just a fun way to spend the holidays.
Maya
February is definitely the best month for a mountain trip. The weather is freezing, so you can’t really sit outside to eat a sandwich, but that means the ice doesn’t melt. We always get the heaviest snowfall during this time, which is perfect for winter sports. Because I am quite good at snowboarding, I love entering events to see who is the quickest on the mountain. Winning a prize is a great feeling! Some people like looking at pretty village decorations, but I only care about the conditions for sports.
Finn
For me, April is the greatest time to visit the snowy peaks. Most tourists have gone home, so the hills are nice and quiet. Also, the hotels drop their prices, so you save a lot of cash compared to winter. The sun shines brightly, and the air isn’t as cold as in January or February. You only need a light jacket! Because it feels so pleasant, my favourite thing to do is sit on a cafe balcony and enjoy a hot soup surrounded by nature. The snow isn’t great for fast races, but I don’t mind.

Managing Money on a Holiday
Tom
I went to Berlin last month. I usually spend a lot on transport, but this time I didn’t take any buses or trains. Instead, I used my own two legs to explore the streets. It kept me very fit! I also stayed in a very cheap hostel with six other people. To save more cash, I enjoyed public gardens and looked at beautiful old buildings from the outside. These activities didn’t take a single penny from my wallet. For meals, I didn’t make anything myself. I just bought cheap sandwiches from small street cafes.
Maria
My holiday in Paris was fantastic and didn’t cost a lot. Luckily, my cousin has a large flat right in the city centre, so my bed for the week was completely free. I didn’t want to walk everywhere because the city is huge. I took a cab from the airport, but I divided the final bill with two other tourists I met on the plane. I love art, so I had to visit the famous galleries. Before I left home, I visited a few websites to get my passes. Getting them on my computer gave me a great discount!
Kevin
I love going to the beach, but it can be very expensive. To manage my money, I decided to visit a beautiful Greek island in November. The weather was a bit cold, but the flight and the hotel were half the price they usually are in July! I didn’t share my room with anyone. Eating at restaurants every evening takes a lot of cash. So, I visited the local supermarket to get pasta and fresh vegetables. Preparing my own dinners in my small kitchen meant I had extra money for souvenirs.
