Memories of Local Villagers
Mark
Last year, I walked to a small village in the valley. After a while, I didn’t know which road to take back to my hotel. I saw some farmers, but I didn’t know their language. Instead of talking, I just smiled and used my hands to share my problem. They understood immediately! Before they showed me the correct path, I spent an hour picking apples with them in their garden. They gave me some fresh fruit to eat outside, but I didn’t go inside their home. It was a wonderful afternoon.
Nina
When I visited a quiet village near the sea, I met some fantastic people. I watched the teenagers running around playing a football match, but I was too tired to run with them. Instead, I sat with an old woman. She showed me the best way to paint beautiful clay bowls. It was difficult at first, but I really enjoyed it. When I finished, she told me to put the nicest one in my bag to bring back to my country. It is my favourite object in my bedroom now!
Carlos
My best memory is from a mountain village in Peru. I arrived early and saw some children in the park. I love sports, so we kicked a ball around the grass together for a long time. Later, their parents came to say hello. They invited me into their dining room and shared a huge, hot dinner with me. The soup was delicious! I wanted to buy a souvenir from them before I left, but there was no shop in the village. Still, spending time with that lovely family was enough for me.

Forgetting the sun cream on holiday
Harry
Last summer, my family went to the beach. I usually take a hat and some sun lotion with me, but this time I left my bag in the car. I lay down on the warm sand and just closed my eyes for a short rest. When I woke up an hour later, my face and arms were totally red! It hurt a lot. Luckily, my older sister gave me her special skin cream to use. It really helped. The next day I felt much better, so I was able to swim in the sea with my cousins.
Jess
I spent a really long time putting things in my suitcase before my trip to Spain. However, I still left my sun protection on my bedroom desk! On the first morning, we walked around the city. By the afternoon, my shoulders were burning. I didn’t want to stay inside the hotel room, so I went to a tourist shop and got a thin, long-sleeved shirt to wear. I also visited a local chemist to pick up some special liquid to stop the pain. After that, I was very careful when I walked around in the sunshine.
Tom
I decided to go to Greece with my friends. I put my clothes into my bag very quickly on the morning of the flight, so I forgot the most important thing: my sun cream! On our first day, we played volleyball on the beach for five hours. That evening, I was pink everywhere. I couldn’t even enjoy the hotel pool because the cool water felt terrible on my hot skin. In fact, I couldn’t leave our apartment for the final three days of the trip! I just sat on the sofa watching TV while my friends were out having fun.

The Exhausting Journey Home
Kevin
I am so glad our holiday didn’t end with an early morning flight. I really dislike waking up before the sun! Instead, we caught the train in the afternoon. Unfortunately, it didn’t arrive on time, so we stood at the station for two extra hours. Once we finally got on, the ride was actually quite comfortable. I just opened my laptop and enjoyed a funny film to pass the time. Even though it was a very long trip, my stomach felt completely fine, unlike some other passengers who felt quite unwell.
Lara
My journey back was terrible. We had to leave the hotel at four o’clock, when it was still completely dark outside. I was so exhausted, but I just couldn’t rest my eyes on the plane. To make things worse, when we landed, the airline couldn’t find my heavy suitcase! I had to wait ages until a worker finally brought it to me. Fortunately, my dad was waiting in his car outside the airport to take me back to our house. As soon as I got to my room, I tried to watch a TV show, but I was too tired.
Simon
Our coach ride home was exactly on schedule, which was great. My backpack was quite small, so I didn’t have any trouble carrying it to the bus stop. However, the roads were very bad. Because the bus moved from side to side so much, my head and stomach started to hurt terribly. I didn’t want to talk to anyone or look at my phone. I just closed my eyes and hoped it would end. When I finally arrived, I walked home, fell into bed, and didn’t wake up until the next afternoon!
