A Very Wet Beach Holiday

Toby

We went to the coast for a week, but the sun only shone on the first day. After that, water fell from the sky for 72 hours! I couldn’t go in the ocean because the waves were too big and dangerous. Instead, I stayed in my hotel room. I had a long novel with me, and I read the final page on Wednesday afternoon. Later, my dad took me to the shopping centre because it was dry inside. I got a cool winter jacket with my pocket money. We also ate at a nice restaurant, but I missed the sand.

Lara

I love sitting on the beach, so when I woke up, saw dark clouds and heard the rain, I actually cried a little. It was awful! Because we couldn’t go outside, my brother and I stayed in our tent. We spent hours looking at his laptop screen and enjoying our favourite comedies. I wanted to read, but I forgot to pack my books. The best part of the trip was when my grandmother showed me how to bake a traditional cake in the camp kitchen. I had never done that before, and it tasted amazing!

Felix

Our beach trip was very wet this year. I didn’t pack a warm jumper, so I was quite cold. However, the rain didn’t stop me from having fun. I put on my swimsuit and jumped in the sea anyway! The water was actually quite warm. In the evenings, there was no television in our rented house, so we couldn’t watch anything. Instead, my mum, dad and I sat around the kitchen table. We had some cards and we had a great time trying to win against each other. It was actually a brilliant holiday.

A weekend cabin trip by the lake

Paul

Our weekend at the lake was amazing. The best part was that we couldn’t use our phones. I couldn’t check my messages or visit any websites, which was actually wonderful! The sun shone the whole time, so every morning I jumped into the cold lake. I stayed in there for hours. My friend made all the dishes, so I didn’t even have to wash a plate or stand in the kitchen. The only problem was that renting the cabin cost quite a lot, but we shared the price.

Mark

I really enjoyed our trip. Before we went, we worried about money, but the price for renting the place was actually very low! Because the cabin was only a short drive to the supermarket, I bought lots of meat and vegetables. I stood by the cooker and prepared breakfast and dinner for everyone. My friends went into the lake, but I preferred to stay dry on the grass. The trip was great, but my bed was terrible. It was so hard that I woke up many times during the night!

Leo

I love taking breaks in the forest, but this trip wasn’t perfect. We had good Wi-Fi inside, so I watched lots of films on my tablet. However, the cabin was miles away from any stores. When we needed more milk, it took almost an hour to drive there! Also, there were dark clouds and it rained all the time. I hated that we couldn’t sit outside in the sun. At least I rested really well because the area was absolutely quiet. Next time, I want to stay closer to a town!

Why I Love Travelling Alone

Finn

When I go on holiday, I love travelling by myself. In a group, you always have to agree on everything. Now, if I decide to do something different, I don’t have to ask anyone. I can just go! Also, I love resting until 10 a.m. in the mornings. When I went with my friends, they always woke me up too early. Another great thing is the food. I always select the cafes for my dinners, so I can eat exactly what I want. Sometimes I travel by public transport, and I never mind waiting for buses.

Anna

Going on trips without other people is the best! When you are in a large group, you only speak to your friends. On my own, making new friends is simple. I always end up chatting with the locals. Big groups also like going to popular museums, but I hate that. I choose to explore quiet streets and small villages where there are no big buses or cameras. People think you spend more cash when you travel alone, but that isn’t true for me. Groups always want to eat in expensive places, but I just buy a sandwich.

Diego

I prefer solo holidays because I get angry when someone takes hours to get ready in the morning. When I am alone, I can put on my shoes and leave the hotel immediately! It is also much better for my wallet. I can keep my cash in my pocket by booking cheaper beds in hostels. Families usually need large, expensive rooms. I don’t really want to meet anyone new on my trips; I just want to relax and look at the sights. I usually make a daily plan before I fly, so I always know where I’m going.
