A Walk Before Bedtime
Fourteen-year-old Jake often felt very tired at school. A few months ago, he had a big problem with his sleep. After dinner every evening, he usually went straight to his bedroom. He stayed there for hours, playing fast action games or watching loud films on his computer. When he finally went to bed at eleven o’clock, he couldn’t fall asleep.
One day, Jake’s science teacher talked about healthy habits. She explained that looking at bright screens at night is a terrible idea for teenagers. Instead, she said that spending time outside can help people relax. Jake listened carefully and decided to change his evening routine. He asked his dad to help him.
Now, Jake’s evenings are completely different. After the family finishes eating their meal, Jake doesn’t turn on his computer. Instead, he puts on his shoes and goes for a short walk with his dad. They usually walk around the local park for twenty minutes. The streets are quiet, and the fresh air feels wonderful. Most importantly, Jake leaves his mobile phone at home.

A Month with Grandparents
My name is Toby, and I am fourteen years old. Usually, my life is very quiet. After school, I spend hours in my bedroom playing video games, and my family often eats pizza for dinner. But last week, my grandparents arrived from the countryside. They are going to stay with us for a whole month, and my daily routine is already very different!
The biggest change is in the morning. My grandad wakes up at six o’clock. He likes making a big breakfast for everyone, so there is a lot of noise in the kitchen. Before they came, I always got up at half past seven. Now, the smell of cooking wakes me up much earlier, but the food is delicious.
My evenings have changed, too. I usually eat quickly and go back to my computer. But my grandma loves talking and playing board games. After dinner, we all sit in the living room together. We watch nature programmes on television or play cards. I haven’t played my favorite video games for days!
