The Quiet Morning Student

Meet 14-year-old Lily. Most of her friends do their schoolwork in the evening after dinner. However, Lily is different. She prefers to wake up at half past five every day to do her homework. She thinks it is the best time to study.

Why does she do this? In the afternoon, her younger brothers are always playing noisy games in the living room. It is very difficult for Lily to concentrate on hard math problems or reading then. But early in the morning, the whole house is completely quiet. Nobody is awake, and she can easily focus on her work.

When Lily gets up, she goes straight to the kitchen. She makes a hot cup of tea and takes it to her bedroom desk. She turns on a small lamp because it is still dark outside. She usually studies for an hour and a half before her parents wake up. She finds that her brain works much faster at this time of day.

Because she finishes all her homework early, Lily can relax after school. While her classmates are worrying about their history essays in the evening, Lily enjoys reading comic books or going for a walk. She says that starting her day with completed schoolwork makes her feel fantastic.

The Morning Bathroom Race

My name is Tom and I live with my parents and my younger sister, Lily. We live in a nice flat, but we only have one bathroom. Every morning at seven o’clock, my alarm clock rings. Then, the crazy morning race begins! We all have to leave the house at eight o’clock for work and school.

Usually, Lily runs to the bathroom first. She always spends at least twenty minutes in the shower. She also loves singing her favourite pop songs very loudly while she washes her hair. I have to wait outside the door and tell her to hurry up because we don’t have much time.

When Lily finally comes out, it is my parents’ turn. Yesterday, there was a very funny moment. My dad was brushing his teeth and looking for his face cream. He took a blue bottle and put it on his face. Suddenly, my mum started laughing. He used her expensive shampoo by mistake! He had to wash his face again.

At a quarter to eight, the bathroom is finally empty. I quickly run inside, brush my teeth, and get dressed. I never have time for a long shower in the morning. Even though our mornings are always really busy and noisy, they are never boring. I think our funny family routine is a great way to start the day.

A Good Night’s Sleep

Fifteen-year-old Toby loves his smartphone. Every evening, after he finishes his homework, he lies in bed and watches funny videos or chats with his friends.
