Finding Fake Clothes at the Market
Luca
I love fashion, but I am very careful at the street market. It is usually easy to see what is real and what is a copy. First, I use my hands. Real designer t-shirts use very soft cotton, but the fake ones are hard and uncomfortable against your skin. Also, the drawing on the front of the shirt is often too high up or printed on the back! Some of my friends buy them because they want to save money. But if a famous hat is only five pounds instead of fifty, it is definitely not real! I don’t look at the spelling, I just look at the price tag.
Ryan
I bought a “designer” sweater at the market last year. It looked great at first, but then I put it in the washing machine. All the bright red dye came out in the water, and now it is light pink! Famous brands don’t do that. Now, I always check the metal parts on clothing. I look carefully at the zips and buttons. On a copy, they are made of cheap plastic and break quickly. A lot of people think you should check how the material feels, but I think fake clothes can sometimes feel very soft too!
Max
You have to be very careful at cheap markets. The people who make fake clothes are getting very clever. Sometimes they ask for a lot of money, so you think the item is real! I always look for two things. First, I read the label very carefully. Often, the famous word is missing a letter or has the wrong letter! Next, I turn the jacket inside out. On a real piece of clothing, the lines of thread are perfectly straight. On a fake one, the needlework is messy and there are loose strings everywhere. I don’t care if the buttons look good.

Wearing Pajamas Outside
Max
I think the new fashion of wearing nightclothes outside is quite fun. Last week, I used my pocket money to get a dark blue pair just for walking around town. I didn’t want to use my old ones! However, when I went to the supermarket, I noticed the shoppers watching me with unfriendly eyes. It made me feel a bit silly. I know some of my friends wear them for long plane trips, but I think I will only wear them to my local park from now on.
Chloe
This trend is amazing because it is so comfortable. Before, I needed thirty minutes to choose an outfit before school. Now, I just jump out of bed and I am finished in five minutes! I don’t wear the whole set, though. I usually put on a silk night-shirt with my favourite blue jeans. It looks very cool. Also, if you have to sit on a train or bus for many hours, there is nothing better to wear. I definitely prefer them to tight sports trousers.
Sam
I really do not understand this new fashion at all. Nightwear belongs in the bedroom, and you should change your clothes when you wake up. My sister bought an expensive pair of pajamas to wear to the cinema, and I told her it was a bad idea! When I want to feel soft and comfortable at the weekend, I just put on my loose football shorts or run

Shopping on a Budget
Tom
I needed new clothes for a school trip. Usually, my mum comes with me, so doing this without her made me feel really grown up. I only had fifty pounds, but I got lucky. The big department store in town had a special weekend offer, so everything cost half the normal amount. Because of that, I got my jeans, t-shirts, and socks all in the same building. I didn’t even have to walk down the street to other places! I used my mobile to call my mum and tell her the good news. I wanted to buy a burger afterwards, but I didn’t have enough time.
Bella
I had to buy supplies and snacks for my sister’s birthday party. I usually write on paper, but this time I typed all the items into my device so I wouldn’t forget anything. I had twenty pounds to spend. I went to the supermarket first, and then to the bakery. I wanted to get my sister a small gift too, but I didn’t have enough cash. However, I found all the party food very quickly and spent less than I thought. With the few pounds I kept, I sat down and enjoyed a huge chocolate ice cream before going home!
Chris
I love going to the shopping centre on Saturdays. I am used to buying things on my own now. Last weekend, my goal was to find a cool jacket and some trainers. I wanted the black shoes, but they were too expensive. So, I decided to take the blue ones instead to keep some of my money. It felt great to stick to my budget! Because I kept some cash, I got a beautiful scarf for my mother. I tried to find a discount online, but there were no special offers. Still, I went home with everything I needed.
