Parents Refusing to Buy Ripped Jeans
Toby
I really love the style of jeans with big open spaces on the legs. However, when I asked my mum for a pair, she said no. She doesn’t think they are unwashed, but to be honest, I think the price is terrible. You have to pay a lot of cash for trousers that are already broken! I didn’t get a new jacket instead. I just found a pair of scissors in the kitchen. This weekend, I am going to change my old blue trousers by cutting the fabric myself. I hope they look cool!
Maya
I really wanted some ripped jeans for a rock concert next week. My dad refused to get them because he doesn’t understand the fashion. At first, I was angry. I thought about asking my classmate to give me hers for a day, but they are too small. Then, my dad showed me how cold the weather will be at the stadium at night. Now I understand his idea was smart! My legs would freeze. So, we went shopping and I chose a warm sweater. I am very happy with it.
Leo
My parents hate ripped jeans. They always tell me that clothes with holes look untidy and need washing! They will never spend their money on them. Because I don’t have a job, I cannot pay for them myself, and I am too afraid to use scissors on my own clothes. Luckily, my best friend has a great pair of grey ones. We are the same size, so he lets me borrow them for parties. It is a great way to enjoy the fashion without annoying my mother and father.

Finding Hidden Money
Leo
My older brother gave me his dark blue winter coat last year because it was too small for him. I didn’t wear it until last week. I was putting my things in a suitcase for a weekend at the beach when I felt some paper inside. It was a twenty-dollar note! I didn’t want to put it in my money box to save it. Instead, I used the twenty dollars to get a beautiful book for my mum’s birthday. She was very happy!
Sam
I bought a heavy grey jacket for a school trip two years ago. I usually leave it in my cupboard. Yesterday, I couldn’t find my house keys anywhere, so I checked all my pockets. I didn’t find my keys, but I pulled out twenty dollars! I was so hungry, so I went to the new café in town. I took my best mate with me and paid for our double burgers and chips. It tasted amazing, and I felt very lucky.
Max
I have a black leather jacket that I wore a lot when I was younger. I was cleaning my bedroom on Sunday and decided to put it in the trash because it was really old. Before I did that, I looked inside it and found a folded twenty-dollar bill! I thought about ordering a large pizza for my dinner, but I changed my mind. I took the cash to the bank and added it to my account. I want to buy a new bicycle next year.

Fuzzy Winter Socks
Anna
I love cold winter nights because I can wear my thickest socks. I found them while I was on holiday in a small village. Actually, my aunt paid for them and gave them to me for my birthday during that trip! They have a nice picture of snow on them, but there are no animals. When I get out of bed on freezing mornings, I immediately put them on to walk around. I just throw them in the washing machine to clean them, and they are always soft.
Ben
Winter is my favourite season. When it snows outside, I love spending the evening next to the warm fire in our living room. My feet get freezing cold, so I wear my big, fluffy socks. They have a really cute brown bear on the side! I always buy my own socks, usually from the shop on my street, so they aren’t a present from anyone. Also, whenever my head hurts and I have a high temperature, putting them on makes me feel much more comfortable.
Clara
My feet easily get cold, so I bought some heavy wool socks at the supermarket. I don’t have a fire, but I love sitting next to the electric heater in my bedroom with a good book. These socks are so warm that I leave them on under the blankets all night until morning. I never take them off to sleep! Because the material is very special, I don’t use the washing machine. Instead, I clean them in the sink with warm water and soap.
