Organising Our Clothes

Olivia

I hate it when I can’t find my favourite shirt. Because I keep my wardrobe very tidy, I don’t waste minutes looking for things in the morning. It makes getting dressed so quick! I don’t use boxes to pack things away. In my closet, my thick winter coats hang right next to my summer beach shorts. I leave everything out all year. I also group things by type, not colour. All my blue, green, and black jackets are together. It looks a bit messy, but it works for me!

Marcus

My friends laugh at my wardrobe because it looks like a rainbow. I hang my clothes starting with black and grey on the left, and finish with white on the right side. It looks beautiful! Actually, I mostly buy blue things because it is my absolute favourite. So the middle of my closet is very full! When the weather gets cold, I just wear a warm sweater over my T-shirts. I wash them often, but I never pack my summer clothes away. I use them under my winter things.

Elena

My bedroom is quite small, so I have to change my wardrobe every spring and autumn. When it gets hot, I take all my heavy sweaters and put them in large plastic boxes. Then, I carry them to the guest bedroom and leave them under the bed there. Before I pack anything away, I wash everything carefully. It must all go into the washing machine first so there are no dirty spots. I also organise my everyday clothes by colour to help me find things fast, but I’m not always tidy!

Fixing a Favourite Sweater

Liam

I have a warm blue sweater that I wear all winter. One day, I found a hole in the arm. My grandmother is good at sewing, but she was busy. So, I watched a short film on YouTube about sewing. It showed me exactly how to use a needle and thread. It took a long time, but it didn’t cost anything. The next day, I put it on for my best friend’s birthday party. Everyone said it looked great! Now, I know how to fix my own clothes.

Chloe

My favourite red sweater got a hole in the front. I wanted to wear it to a concert, but I couldn’t. I tried to look for online instructions, but they were too difficult. Then, my aunt visited us. She gave me a great idea. We cut a pretty flower from an old dress that was too small for me. She helped me sew the flower over the hole. Now, my sweater isn’t boring anymore, it has a beautiful new style! I love it even more than before.

Noah

I was really unhappy last week. My dog bit my green sweater and pulled the wool. The hole was enormous, and I felt terrible. I thought I had to throw it in the bin with my old shirts. I don’t know how to sew, so I took it to a small shop in town. The woman there asked for ten pounds to do the job. When I went back to get it, I was amazed. She did such a fantastic job that you can’t even see where the dog bit it!

Buying a Jacket for a Mountain Trip

Tom

I walked to a large sports shop in town to find something for our mountain holiday. I didn’t want to buy anything online! I found a great black coat. Usually, it is a very expensive brand, but the store had a special sale, so I kept a lot of my pocket money. It is very thin and easy to put in my bag. Yesterday, I stood outside in a bad storm just to check if it actually keeps my clothes dry. It works perfectly!

Alex

I didn’t have enough cash for a good camping coat, but my lovely aunt got one for me as a surprise present. She spent a lot of money on it, so I am very lucky! It fits my body perfectly, not too short or too long. I didn’t want a dark colour like black or grey. Instead, she chose a neon orange one for me. I love it because my teacher and friends will find me quickly if I walk away from the camp!

Ben

I looked in every store for a coat, but nothing was right. Finally, I ordered a fantastic one using an app on my smartphone. I used all my savings because I didn’t ask my parents to buy it. The sleeves go over my hands, so it is definitely not my exact size, but I like it anyway. The only real problem is that it is made of very thick material. It weighs a lot when I put it inside my backpack for the trip.
