Weekend Football Matches
Liam
I absolutely love Saturday mornings! My grandfather always drives to the sports field to stand at the side and support me. It makes me play better. However, before the referee starts the game, my stomach often feels bad and I get quite anxious. But when I finally kick the ball, I forget everything. Our group of boys is very friendly, but we are not the best in the area. I really think we must do much more preparation during the week if we want to improve. Noah is the captain of his team, but I definitely don’t want that job!
Noah
I play for a large regional club every Sunday. Because we play against boys from other cities, our bus journeys usually take hours. It is tiring, but I enjoy looking out the window. The coach gave me a special job this year. I am the captain, so I am the one who tells the others what to do on the pitch! I am never scared before a match starts, unlike some of my friends. We are quite good and get a lot of good results. My dad really wants to come and watch me, but he always has to work on weekends.
Ethan
Playing football is my favorite weekend activity, even though we hardly ever score more goals than the other side! We don’t mind dropping points because we just want to have a fun time together. The sports ground is just at the end of my street, so my trip only takes five minutes on foot. One boy in our squad, Jack, is incredible. When he gets the ball, nobody can catch him because his speed is simply amazing! We play together every Tuesday and Thursday evening, which is definitely enough exercise for us.

Our Comic Book Hobby
Liam
I love reading superhero stories. My older brother gives me all his magazines when he finishes them, so I don’t have to buy them. I think the stories from thirty or forty years ago are the most exciting. The modern ones are okay, but I don’t like the digital art as much. I never trade my books on a computer screen. Instead, I attend a large festival in my city every July to look for different titles. Sometimes I find amazing things there! I try to keep them clean, but my brother often damages them.
Noah
I have a collection of about two hundred comic books in my bedroom. Taking care of them is very important to me. I always put them in special plastic covers so they have absolutely no marks or folded pages. I usually exchange comics with my classmates at school, not with my parents or cousins. Reading is fun, but my favorite thing is actually picking up a pencil. I spend hours making my own pictures of heroes and writing speech bubbles. Sometimes I visit a local market to buy things, but I don’t go to any big festivals.
Ethan
I started reading comic books last year. I want to travel to Paris one day, so I buy books with French text to help me study the vocabulary. It is much more fun than using a normal textbook! I can’t find many of these foreign books in my town’s shops or markets. Because of this, I join websites to post my old comics and trade them with users from all over the world. I don’t draw my own heroes because I am terrible at art! I just like looking at the colorful pages.

Indoor Sports are the Best!
Oliver
I love playing badminton at the local sports centre. When I joined the club last year, I didn’t know anyone at all. Now, I have lots of great mates there. My brother hates sports, so I never play with him. I spend a lot of time looking at famous badminton stars on the internet. Seeing how they move on the court really helps me get better. The only problem is that my sports bag and shoes are fine, but my racket is broken. I’m going to the shop tomorrow to pick up a different one.
Chloe
My absolute favorite sport is table tennis. The best thing is that I don’t have to travel anywhere to do it. My parents put a table in our garage, so I just walk in there to play! I sometimes invite my classmates over, but most evenings I have competitions with my older sister. She usually wins! I used to play basketball outside, but I stopped because it’s too noisy. I don’t really watch sports on television because I prefer actually being active. I have a fantastic new bat that my uncle gave me for my birthday.
Harry
I used to be a keen football player. However, I broke my foot during a match two years ago. The doctor told me to try a safer activity, so I started indoor tennis. I am so glad I did! Our sports hall is only a five-minute walk from my apartment. When it is raining or snowing heavily, I am always warm and dry inside. Outdoor sports are terrible in the winter! Indoor tennis can be expensive because you have to pay to use the building, but my shoes and clothes are still in perfect condition.
