Dancing on the Weekend

Liam

Before I joined the street dance group, I stayed in bed until mid-day on Saturdays. Now, my alarm rings at 7 a.m. so I can get to the studio on time! My older brother hates dancing, so I go by myself. Since my weekends are so busy now, I have to finish all my geography and maths projects on Friday nights. I used to do them on Sunday afternoons. The best part about the weekend is when the lesson finishes. My mates from the group and I always go to a café to get a burger and chips. Sometimes we watch a dance show on TV there!

Sophie

My Saturday mornings haven’t changed much because our dance classes are in the evening, so I still sleep late. I usually have a big meal with my parents before I go to the club. In the past, I spent my whole weekend looking at a screen and holding a controller in my bedroom. I hardly ever turn on my console now! At the moment, our dance group is getting ready for a big summer concert. We spend hours learning the new steps. It is hard work, but when I wake up for school at the start of the week, I actually feel full of energy!

Noah

I started going to the jazz dance club because my cousin asked me to join. We take the bus to the sports centre together every Saturday afternoon. When I get home, I still like to play online matches on my computer with my classmates. Dancing hasn’t stopped me from doing that! However, I move around so much at the club that my legs often hurt for a couple of days. When I sit at my desk on Monday, it is hard to stay awake! Collecting Unusual Items

Leo

I started collecting stamps two years ago. I love looking at the beautiful pictures on them. My classmates sometimes bring me interesting envelopes from their holidays, but my parents never give me any. I don’t need to spend much cash on this, so it is a really cheap activity. When I want something special, I usually look on different websites and order it from my bedroom. The greatest part about this hobby is that everything fits inside one thin book on my desk. I don’t have to worry about finding room for my things!

Maya

Collecting foreign coins is my favourite thing to do. I never use water and a brush on them because getting them wet can ruin the old metal. My grandparents go on holiday quite often, and they always bring me back heavy cash from different countries. I really enjoy looking at the faces of dead kings on the coins. It helps me understand how people lived hundreds of years ago! I don’t leave my collection out in my room. Instead, I hide everything in a dark box under my bed where nobody else can see it.

Toby

I have a huge collection of strange, old keys. I don’t care about the history of the doors they opened; I just love their interesting shapes! I prefer paying with cash at outdoor markets in my town, so I never get anything from the internet. The sellers often ask for high prices, which means I have to save almost all of my pocket money for my hobby. The keys are usually covered in black dirt when I buy them. I always spend an hour using a wet cloth and some soap to make them look bright and beautiful again.

Baking for the Family

Oliver

I usually bake chocolate cakes every Saturday morning. I love making them, but I definitely do not want to do this for a job when I grow up! It is just a fun hobby. I always make too much food, so I carry some slices to the people who live on my street. They always say my cakes are delicious! Last month, I made a very big dessert and got first prize in a local competition. I was so happy. The only bad thing about baking is the mess, but luckily my dad washes the plates for me!

Mia

My grandmother and I always spend Sunday afternoons making amazing desserts. She knows a lot about cooking! We do not make things with apples or bananas because we prefer using lots of sugar and butter to make them extra sweet. Sometimes we do not know what to make, so we watch online videos to learn fresh recipes. It is much easier than reading old books. When the food is finally in the oven, it is my job to clean all the bowls and spoons. I hate doing it, but it makes my mum very happy!

Lucas

Making sweet snacks is my favorite thing to do. However, I always try to prepare things that will not make my family ill. I do not use much sugar or chocolate. Instead, I add lots of fresh fruit, like strawberries, to make the food taste great. I entered a cooking show at school last year, but I did not win. That’s okay, because I practice all the time. Actually, I hope to open my own café and sell my desserts when I leave school. Usually, my brothers eat all my cakes before I can share them with anyone else on our road!
