A Scary Landing

Arthur

The weather was terrible when we arrived at the airport. The plane moved up and down so much! I was travelling by myself after a long business trip. To stop feeling afraid, I decided not to look out of the window. I just shut my eyes and tried to get some sleep. Suddenly, the plane dropped very fast. I was so terrified that I held the hand of the man sitting next to me! He didn’t mind at all. I didn’t feel sick, but I was very happy when we finally touched the ground.

Bianca

I usually love flying, but this storm was the worst I have ever seen. It was impossible to close my eyes and rest! The wind was so loud outside. At one point, all the lamps above us stopped working, and we couldn’t see a thing for five minutes. I was quite worried, so I talked to the woman bringing our food to see if we were safe. She smiled and told me not to worry. Because the plane was jumping around, my favourite hat fell off my lap. I looked everywhere before leaving, but I never found it!

Carlos

I was on this flight with a man from my office. We were returning home from a large meeting. When the storm started, the pilot told everyone to stay in their chairs. Outside the window, the lightning was very bright, so the cabin was never black. I don’t usually have problems on planes, but when we started to land, we went through some heavy clouds. I felt terrible and my stomach hurt a lot! Fortunately, my friend had some water and a sweet to help me get through it.

Airport Security Checks

Mark

The line for the checks was incredibly long. I waited for over an hour! Because of this, I had to run to the gate and only just got on my flight in time. I made sure my laptop was out of my backpack before I got to the front. However, a police officer still wanted to look inside my suitcase. He asked me to unlock it so he could check my clothes. Luckily, I didn’t have any large bottles of water, so nothing was taken from me.

Sarah

I arrived very early, so I had plenty of time before my flight. When I reached the security area, I didn’t remember to take my laptop out of my rucksack, so they had to scan the bag twice. The guards also told me to remove my boots and walk through the machine in my socks! It was a bit annoying, but I feel really glad they do this. It means we are all safe when we travel in the sky. I didn’t mind the wait at all.

David

The security guards didn’t look inside my backpack, which was good. But when I walked through the scanner, it started ringing loudly! The problem was the metal on my belt, so I had to go through again. I didn’t have to take off my shoes, though. Before the checks, I bought a large bottle of orange juice. I didn’t know about the rules, so I couldn’t keep it. I had to throw it away before they let me pass. Next time, I will read the rules!

Checking Bus Times on a Smartphone

Liam

I take the bus to school every morning. Before I had this app, I often stood at the bus stop for twenty minutes, getting cold and wet if the weather was awful. Now, I can see exactly when the bus is coming. Because of this, I don’t have to wake up so early and can get an extra ten minutes of rest! My mum also uses the app, but she uses it to get her monthly tickets, not me. I still use cash.

Emma

This travel app is brilliant. My school is quite far, and sometimes the roads are closed for repairs. The app always tells me if my bus is taking another street, so I am never late. When I travel home in the evening, I always message my mum and dad to tell them exactly what time I will arrive, which they really like. Also, I don’t need to carry coins anymore because I can pay for my travel directly on my screen! My brother tried the app too, but he couldn’t understand it at first.

Noah

When I downloaded this app last year, I didn’t know how to find my bus number. It wasn’t easy to figure out, but now I use it every day. At my local bus stop, there is a large piece of paper on the wall with all the times on it, but that information is often wrong. Looking at the screen in my hand is much quicker and always right! I told my friends to get the app, so they don’t have to wait in the snow like they used to.
