Waiting for the Night Train

Victor

I arrived at the station at midnight. Sadly, the board showed a two-hour delay! I wanted to rest on the chairs and dream, but they were too hard and uncomfortable. Also, the speakers kept shouting information about other platforms every few minutes, which really gave me a headache. I didn’t have any paperbacks to look at, so I walked around. Most shops were closed, but luckily, I found a machine. I paid for a cup of sweet hot chocolate. It helped me stay warm until my carriage finally arrived.

Clara

The night train was very late, which made me feel quite anxious. I had to get on a different railway line in the next city at six in the morning, and I didn’t want to miss it! Because my phone battery was dead, I couldn’t use it to listen to my favourite bands. Instead, I opened my bag and finished the final pages of an exciting story. Later, a nice woman sat next to me. We shared a wonderful conversation about our holidays until it was time to board.

Hugo

When I saw the delay on the screen, I wasn’t angry. The building was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night, without many people or loud announcements. I didn’t want to buy any coffee or tea, because my plan was to relax. I put my bags under my legs so they were safe. Then, I found some great pop tracks on my smartphone and put them on. After a while, I shut my eyes and dreamt for over an hour. When I woke up, my train was finally waiting.

A friendly bus driver

Ryan

Our bus driver, Mr. Jones, is amazing. I usually have my headphones on to listen to my own pop music, but I take them off to talk to him. He often talks about the silly things his pet dog does, and all the passengers can’t stop smiling. He is also very kind. Sometimes I wake up too late, but if he spots me hurrying down the street, he never drives away without me. Once, I didn’t have my travel pass because I left it at home, but he was completely fine with it!

Sofia

Every morning, our driver greets us with a big smile. What I love most is that he says ‘hello’ using our actual first names when we step on board. He asks us how our homework was, rather than being loud or joking around. His bus is incredibly clean because we cannot open our snacks or juice inside. He is also really helpful. If a student drops a winter scarf or a pencil on the floor, he places it safely in a box near his seat so they can collect it the next day.

Liam

Our daily driver makes the journey to school brilliant. He has great taste in radio stations and always chooses fantastic bands for us to listen to on the trip. He is very strict about the timetable, so he won’t stop for anyone who isn’t ready! However, he is very helpful in other ways. He explains if there are too many cars on the route, so we understand exactly when we will arrive. Also, every Friday morning, he gives a little piece of chocolate to everyone to celebrate the weekend!

International Flight Reviews

Emma

I flew to Japan last week. It was a very long trip, but the men and women looking after us were lovely. They smiled a lot and gave me a nice cold fruit juice when I asked. I am quite a tall girl, so I usually hate sitting on planes. However, this time I could stretch out easily without hitting the chair in front. I actually rested and had some good dreams for six hours! The hot dinner was just chicken and rice. It wasn’t spicy, but it was a bit boring.

Lucas

My flight to Brazil was okay, but the chair was quite hard. I couldn’t get comfortable, so I only slept for a short time. I really wanted to use the television on the back of the seat, but it was broken, so I just read a novel instead. Because I wanted to save money on the plane, I got my dinner on the airline’s website a week ago. When the box arrived, the chicken curry had too much pepper! I couldn’t finish it, and I really missed having a nice piece of cake.

Wei

I went to Europe on a night flight. I usually try to shut my eyes, but I didn’t sleep for a single minute on this journey. My seat was too small, so my knees touched the person in front of me! Because of this, I enjoyed two funny movies to make the hours go faster. The staff were very busy and didn’t talk much, but the meal they served was included in the ticket. The main dish was fine, but the large chocolate dessert was brilliant. I ate every bit of it!
