Learning About the Future of AI

Leo

I went to the big AI meeting last weekend. My company is in another country, so I had to take two different planes to get there! It was very tiring. I listened to some great talks about how technology is changing. One speaker talked about how robots will buy things for us in the future, but I am not sure about that. At the end of the day, the organizers gave everyone a fantastic book about coding. I didn’t have to give them any cash for it! I didn’t see anyone I wanted to start a business with, but I still had a lot of fun.

Maya

The AI conference was amazing! I sat next to a brilliant programmer during lunch, and we agreed to build a new mobile app together soon. During the morning, a woman explained how to use smart computers to organize emails quickly. I had a lot of trouble doing that at my desk before, but now I know exactly what to do! I paid for my own meals, so I didn’t get any free food or drinks. Next year, I really want the other people from my department to come with me to listen to the interesting talks.

Sam

My office is right next to the conference centre, so my trip only took five minutes! When I walked inside, I couldn’t believe my eyes. There were thousands of visitors in the hall, and I thought it would be quite quiet! I went to a wonderful talk about supermarkets and the future. I really feel that smart software will soon show us exactly what clothes or food to put in our baskets. I went alone this time, and I prefer to learn that way, so I probably won’t invite my work friends to come with me next time.

Choosing the Best Office Chair

Mark

I sit at my computer for eight hours every day. In the past, my back and neck hurt a lot every evening. I asked my boss for a better seat, and she bought this wonderful black one for my desk. It doesn’t have anywhere to put my arms, but it feels great. Because I am so comfortable now, I can complete my daily tasks in much less time than before. It fits perfectly in my small office space, so it is never in the way.

Sarah

Since I started working from home, I needed a proper seat. The company didn’t give me one, so I used my personal savings to get it. I searched online and found a pink and white one. It is really lovely to look at in my home office! However, it is incredibly wide, so it fills almost half of my bedroom. It is soft and nice, but to be honest, it doesn’t make me work any faster.

David

When our office bought new furniture last month, the manager told us we could take the used seats to our own houses! I was so happy to keep my cash in my pocket. The seat is a dark grey colour, so I don’t really like looking at it in my study. However, it has very soft sides where I can rest my elbows and hands when I type on my keyboard. My brother has a bad back, so I almost gave it to him, but it is just too comfortable!

Putting our apps in the store

Leo

When I finally finished my app, I was worried about putting it online. I thought I needed to pay, but it didn’t cost anything. The hardest part was finding the right words to explain the game to new users. I spent hours thinking about the text! Taking pictures of the game was quite easy, though. After I sent everything to the app store, I expected to wait for a few weeks. However, I couldn’t believe it when I saw it online the very next day!

Maya

I didn’t want to make an app alone, so a classmate and I did it together. We wanted to make sure it was perfect, but we didn’t show it to our parents because we wanted it to be a secret. Adding the app to the store wasn’t cheap. We had to use our pocket money to buy a special account! To help people understand our app, we also recorded a clip showing someone using it. We waited almost a month for the store to accept it, but we are so happy now.

Toby

Getting my app ready for the store took a lot of work. Before I uploaded it, I asked my older brother to play it to see if there were any problems. He even helped me type the information for the store page! I didn’t record any moving images for the app because I don’t have a good video camera. Instead, I used a lot of pictures. However, the store wouldn’t accept them at first because the files were too large. I had to reduce them before I could finally finish uploading everything.
