WOMAN:   Morning.

POLICEMAN:   I hope you didn’t have any trouble getting here.

WOMAN:   No. My son brought me, thank you very much.

POLICEMAN:   Oh, good.

WOMAN:   So what do you want me to do?

POLICEMAN:   Look through this window if you don’t mind.

WOMAN:   Ah yes. At the men.

POLICEMAN:   That’s right, Madam.

WOMAN:   All right. I’m looking. What now?

POLICEMAN:   Well, I want you to take your time. Study the men very carefully.

WOMAN:   Oh, no need.

POLICEMAN:   Sorry?

WOMAN:   There’s no need.

POLICEMAN:   What, you mean you can see the man who took your dog?

WOMAN:   Oh yes.

POLICEMAN:   Well, who is it?

WOMAN:   That one.

POLICEMAN: Which one?

WOMAN:   The one with the beard.

POLICEMAN:   There are three men with beards.

WOMAN:   Yes.

POLICEMAN:   So which one is it? Please.

WOMAN:   The man in a green jacket.

POLICEMAN:   Yes, but there are two men with green …

WOMAN:   Look! That one.

POLICEMAN:   Which one?

WOMAN:   The one scratching his ear.

POLICEMAN:   But he doesn’t have a green jacket.

WOMAN:   Doesn’t he?

POLICEMAN:   No. It’s red.

WOMAN:   Ah. Well that explains it.

POLICEMAN:   It does?

WOMAN:   Yes. My eyes aren’t what they used to be, you see.

POLICEMAN:   But can you still be sure that number five is the man you saw?

WOMAN:   Oh yes.

POLICEMAN:   Good.

WOMAN:   At least, I think so. I can’t be absolutely sure.

POLICEMAN:   You think so! You can’t be sure?

WOMAN:   Yes, well you see, I only saw him from behind!
