The Broken Glasses

My name is Lily, and I am thirteen years old. Yesterday morning, I had a big problem before going to school. While I was packing my bag, my glasses fell off my desk and hit the bedroom floor. When I picked them up, I saw that the plastic frame was broken right in the middle.

I felt very worried. I really need my glasses to see things clearly. In my first lesson, math, I couldn’t read the numbers on the board at the front of the classroom. My teacher, Mr. Brown, asked me a difficult question, but I couldn’t answer it because everything looked strange. I knew I had to find a quick answer to my problem.

At break time, I walked to the school office and asked the nice secretary for some clear tape. I sat on a chair, carefully put the two broken pieces of my glasses together, and wrapped the tape around them. They didn’t look very beautiful, but they felt quite strong.

In my next class, history, I put my glasses back on my face. Suddenly, I could read the board perfectly again! A few of my classmates laughed at the tape, but my best friend said my glasses looked cool. I am glad I fixed them myself, but I hope my parents can buy me a new pair this weekend.

A Race Against Time

My name is Emma, and I am fifteen years old. Last month, my history teacher gave our class a very big project. We had to write about a famous person from the past. I chose to write about a famous queen. I spent two weeks reading books and writing my text. The project was due on Sunday evening at eight o’clock.
