Locked Out but Busy

My name is Leo, and I am fourteen years old. Last Friday afternoon, I was very happy because the school week was finished. I walked home with my friends and we talked about our plans for the weekend. When I arrived at my front door, I put my hand in my pocket.

I needed to find my house keys, but they were not there. I quickly looked inside my school bag, but I only found my books and some pens. Suddenly, I remembered something. My keys were still on the kitchen table! I wanted to call my parents, but my smartphone battery was completely dead. I couldn’t send a message or phone anyone.

I didn’t want to stand on the street, so I walked around the house to our back garden. Luckily, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful warm afternoon. I sat down on the soft grass under a big tree. I decided to open my bag and start reading my history book.

I waited outside for two hours. Finally, my mum and dad returned from their work. My mum saw me and looked extremely worried. However, I smiled and showed her my book.
