Working Together for the Sea

My name is Leo and I live in a small town near the sea. I love swimming and walking on the beach in my free time. But last month, I saw something very sad. There was a lot of plastic rubbish on the sand. This is a huge danger to sea animals. Fish and sea birds sometimes eat the plastic or get caught in it, and they can die.

I wanted to do something to help, so I decided to organise a beach clean-up. I made a large poster and put it on the wall at my school. I also wrote a message on the internet to invite people in my town. I asked everyone to bring strong bags and some gloves.

The clean-up happened last Saturday morning. I was very surprised because more than fifty people arrived to help! We worked hard for three hours and walked along the whole beach. We found old bottles, broken toys, and a lot of plastic bags. By the end of the morning, we had forty large bags full of rubbish.

Now, the beach looks beautiful and safe for the animals again. I am extremely proud of my town. Cleaning the sand was hard work, but it was also a great way to meet new friends. We are going to do it again next month, and I hope even more people will come.
