A Fun Way to Help Animals

Fifteen-year-old Maya has always loved animals. She has a pet dog named Buster. One day, she watched some young children playing with Buster in the park. They pulled his ears and shouted loudly. They didn’t want to hurt him, but they just didn’t know how to treat animals kindly. Maya decided she needed to do something to help.

Because Maya loves computers, she had a brilliant idea. She wanted to create a fun educational app for young kids. In her app, children can play games and learn the best ways to touch and feed different pets. For example, the app teaches them to move slowly and speak quietly when they meet a new dog or cat.

Making the app was not easy. Maya worked on it every evening after she finished her homework. When she had a difficult problem with the software, she asked her computer teacher, Mr. Jones, for help. Before she put the app on the internet, she gave it to her seven-year-old brother, Sam, to try. Sam loved the colorful pictures and fun quizzes.

A Quiet Trip to See the Whales

Fifteen-year-old Leo loves the ocean. Last summer, he went on a special holiday to Iceland with his parents. The most important thing for Leo was to see wild whales. However, he knew that many tourist boats use big, noisy engines. These boats usually travel very close to the animals, which can easily frighten them. Leo didn’t want to do that.

Instead, Leo spent a whole evening looking on the internet for a better idea. He finally discovered an eco-tour. This company uses traditional sailing boats with no engines, so they are completely quiet. They also promise to stay a long way from the animals. This means the whales are safe and don’t feel worried.

On the morning of the trip, the weather was quite cold and windy. After an hour of sailing, the guide pointed at the water. A huge whale was there! Because the boat didn’t make any loud sounds, the beautiful animal calmly swam around them. Leo stayed quiet and took some incredible photographs.
