Looking After a New Puppy

Leo

Having a little dog is fun, but it is hard work. My biggest job is keeping his coat nice and soft. Every afternoon, I spend ten minutes using a comb on him so he looks tidy. My mum gives him his dinner, which is lucky for me! The only bad thing is his teeth. He loves chewing on our shoes and biting the sofa cushions. We have to hide everything because he destroys our favorite objects. At least he is very quiet and sleeps all the way until morning without making a sound.

Maya

My new puppy is lovely, but I am the one who has to put his meat and biscuits into his bowl twice a day. He is very healthy, so we haven’t needed to go to the pet clinic yet. I also spend a lot of time training him. I show him how to sit, stay, and wait quietly for his treats. He doesn’t always listen, though! Sometimes he forgets to go outside to the toilet. When that happens, I have to get a wet cloth and wash the carpets. It is not my favorite job!

Sam

We got our puppy last week, and I am already very tired! He cries a lot in the middle of the night, so I have to get out of bed at 3 a.m. to check if he is okay. Fortunately, he never bites our furniture or ruins our things. His fur is very short, so nobody needs to comb him. Yesterday, I had an important job. I carried him to the vet for his first check-up and his medicine. He was very brave, but the trip made him so tired that he slept all afternoon.

A Trip to the City Zoo

Tom

I went to the city zoo last weekend with my family. I really wanted to see the big cats. When we found the lions, they were walking around and making a lot of noise! I didn’t use my phone to get any pictures because I just wanted to watch them. Before we left, I went into the store and got a small plastic lion for my bedroom. The only bad thing about the day was the entrance tickets. We paid so much money just to get inside!

Sara

Last Tuesday, my teacher took our group to the city zoo for a science lesson. It was fun walking around with all my classmates. We stopped to look at the monkeys first. I wanted to give them some bananas, but a sign said we couldn’t give them anything to eat. Then, we went to the lions. I hoped to hear them, but they were lying on the grass with their eyes closed all afternoon. I wanted a t-shirt from the shop, but I didn’t have any cash.

Mike

I had a great time at the zoo yesterday. My uncle works there, so he gave me a free ticket! He took me to see the monkeys first. They were jumping everywhere, and I got lots of great pictures on my phone to show my mom. My uncle even let me hand them some sweet fruit, which was amazing! Later, we went really close to the lions. One of them looked right at me and roared loudly. I actually wanted to run away because I felt really frightened!

Watching Colorful Fish

Alex

I go to the city aquarium every weekend with my grandfather. We can spend hours just standing in front of the giant glass walls. When I observe the little yellow and blue fish swimming around, I completely forget about my school problems and feel very calm. I tried painting them once, but they move too fast! Because I love them so much, my parents bought me a small tank for my bedroom on my birthday. I love having my own underwater pets.

Bella

The large aquarium in my town is amazing, but you have to pay a lot of money to go inside. Because of this, I usually go on free trips with my school science club. I don’t feel quiet or sleepy there; I actually feel really excited when the huge sharks swim past me! I am very interested in the jobs the staff do every day. I always read the information boards to find out what the different sea animals eat and the best ways to keep their glass homes clean.

Carlos

I don’t have any animals of my own because my apartment is too small, so I love visiting the aquarium. The colorful fish are beautiful, but I also really enjoy checking out the green things growing at the bottom of the water. They look like a strange, beautiful underwater forest. Next week, I am going to take my notebook and pencils with me. I want to make some art of the 

beautiful sea creatures. I hope the staff can tell me some fun facts about them!
