Why Bees Are Important
Luca
My grandfather told me everything I know about these amazing insects when I was little. He explained that they are very important for the world. To find their food, bees usually fly towards bright things, especially purple and yellow ones. We can all help them easily. You don’t need a big garden to do this. Just put a small wooden box outside your window so they have somewhere safe to sleep. My brother often uses his phone to film them, but I just like watching them on sunny days.
Sophie
In my garden, we have many fruit trees like apple and orange trees. We get lots of delicious things to eat from them every summer, and that is all because of the bees! They move from tree to tree, helping the fruit get bigger. I love seeing them resting on my favorite red roses. However, I often feel scared that one day there won’t be any bees left in the world. Pollution is a big problem. We must work hard to keep them safe in the natural places where they sleep.
Ben
Bees are my favorite insects! Whenever I see one on a flower, I get my camera out to save the moment. I have a large album of them on my computer. I love eating the sweet honey they make, which my aunt buys for me at the market. But life is getting harder for bees right now. Because the summers are much hotter and drier than before, many plants die early. Without enough rain, the insects cannot find the food they need to survive.

Feeding the Birds
Anna
I love spending my weekends at the local pond. Yesterday, I went there with my best friend. We know that normal bread is actually bad for ducks, so we brought some green peas and sweetcorn from our kitchen instead. The birds loved it! While we were standing by the water, I noticed a tiny duckling swimming behind its mother. It was so small and cute! There were lots of noisy people walking around, so we didn’t stay too long.
Ben
My grandfather loves swans, so I took him to the lake today. We wanted to be there before anyone else, so we arrived at half past six, just after the sun came up! We threw some pieces of brown bread into the water for them. However, the ground near the edge was very wet and soft. I slipped, and my jeans got completely covered in brown mud. I had to wash them as soon as I got home. At least I got some great photos!
Chloe
I usually visit the quiet pond in the afternoon. Last time I went, I expected to see just three or four swans. But when I arrived, I was completely shocked! There was a huge group of over fifty birds waiting for food. I shared the sandwich from my lunchbox with them. I never take a camera with me when I go. Instead, I always pack my pencils and a notebook so I can sketch the beautiful swans on the water. It is my favourite hobby.

Rescuing a Little Cat
Leo
I saw a little cat outside my window in the morning before lessons. I really wanted to bring him inside, but I needed to check with my mum and dad first. Fortunately, they said yes! When I carried him into the living room, he was very scared. He went straight under the sofa and stayed there for hours. He didn’t want any meat, he only wanted to drink milk. Now, he is very friendly and loves to rest on my old jumper. We call him Tiger.
Mia
My parents actually found our cat in a park. She was very thin and her back leg was hurt, so they took her to the animal doctor immediately. After getting some medicine, she felt much better. Because she didn’t have a home, we decided to keep her. We called her Daisy, which is my favourite flower. To make her feel welcome, I went to the pet shop and paid for a soft basket for her to use at night. She loves it!
Sam
I was walking home after classes when I heard a noise. A tiny animal was alone on the street. He wasn’t afraid at all and ran straight to my feet. He looked completely fine and didn’t need to see a vet, but he was definitely hungry. When we got to my house, I gave him some fish. I couldn’t believe how quickly he finished the huge plate! We decided to call him Midnight because his fur is completely black.
