Space Travel Documentary

Oliver

I usually play video games in the evening, but my science teacher said our class had to view this space documentary. I actually loved it! The man showing us everything was very funny and made me laugh. The film was two hours, but the minutes flew by quickly. My older brother wanted to see it with me, but he was busy. The part about rockets was so interesting that I am going to the library tomorrow to get some texts about how they are built.

Mia

I love space, so I sat on the sofa with my grandfather to watch this programme. He knows a lot about the universe! I already read a text about planets last month, so I didn’t plan to study more today. However, I still found out facts I didn’t know before about the first astronauts walking on the moon. The only problem was the man talking to the camera. He was quite boring and spoke too slowly. Also, the rocket noises were too loud, not like real music!

Lucas

I didn’t have any school work this weekend, so I watched the space travel film alone in my bedroom. I already understood a lot about the moon, but the information about travelling to Mars was brilliant. The best thing, though, was the sounds. The songs they played in the background were amazing and really made you feel like you were flying. But honestly, three hours is a lot of time to sit in one place. I got a bit tired and wished it finished earlier.

Canal Boat Journeys

Sarah

We rented a canal boat for a week. Before we started, I was worried about driving such a long boat. However, learning to turn it was actually quite simple! We had perfect sunshine every day, so we spent hours sitting outside. I brought just a few summer dresses, which was a good idea because our bedroom was very small. In the evenings, we didn’t visit any restaurants. Instead, we prepared all our meals in the boat’s tiny kitchen. Everything we cooked tasted amazing! It was a brilliant week.

Mark

Our canal journey was only three days, and I really didn’t want to go home! We travelled very slowly. Often, families were walking on the path next to the water, and it was lovely to smile and say hello to them. We didn’t cook at all; we just stopped to eat at cafes near the canal. I thought I would see lots of nature, but we only saw a few ducks. Also, I only brought shorts and T-shirts. I felt very cold and really needed a winter jacket!

Elena

We spent a whole two weeks living on a canal boat. It was a long trip, and I was happy to sleep in my own bed at the end! Making the boat move was fine, but stopping it was quite difficult. As we went quietly through the countryside, we watched beautiful birds and even caught a big fish. The only problem was that it rained heavily for three days. We had to stay inside and play board games, but it was still a relaxing holiday.

A Faster Journey to the City Center

Leo

Before they built the new bridge, going into the city center took a long time. I had to catch public transport, and it was often slow. I don’t do that now because I can cycle across the river in just ten minutes! I usually go there to meet my friends at the park, not to go to the stores. The best thing about the new journey is my mornings. Because the trip is so much quicker, I don’t have to get up early. I can stay in bed for another thirty minutes before breakfast.

Sam

Last year, the traffic was always terrible near the old river crossing. I woke up very early, but I often missed the start of my first lesson anyway. That never happens now! The new bridge is so fast, but honestly, it is very ugly. I take the bus across it every day, so I still travel the same way, but the journey is twenty minutes shorter. At the weekends, I also travel to the city center to get new clothes or video games. I love how quick it is to get to the shops!

Mia

I don’t go to school in the city center, so I am never late for my classes. But my grandmother lives on the other side of the river, so I visit her house every Sunday. Before the new bridge opened, I hated going there. The road was full of fast cars, and going on foot was really dangerous. Now, there is a wide path just for people, so I don’t worry about the traffic at all. Also, the bridge looks amazing in the evening. The tall white lights have a fantastic design.
