Crossing the River

Tom

It was a lovely sunny day when we crossed the wide river. There were no other people, so we got on immediately. The man driving the small wooden boat was very kind. I am a student, so he didn’t ask for the full cost of the journey, which was great! My grandad’s dog sat next to me the whole time, looking at the water. I held my new camera in my hands, but the trip was so peaceful that I actually forgot to use it!

Nina

I cross this river every morning because my office is on the other side. Today, the journey was very different. It was raining heavily and the wind was strong, so the small wooden boat moved up and down a lot. A few passengers looked worried, but I wasn’t frightened at all. I actually thought it was exciting! I even used my mobile to get a picture of the water splashing against the wood. It usually takes ten minutes, but today it took twenty.

Ben

I was going to a friend’s house for the weekend. We stood in a line for over an hour at the river because there was only one small wooden boat working. The ticket was quite expensive, but we had to cross. When we were in the middle of the river, I looked down. The water was moving very fast and the boat felt very old. Honestly, I was really scared until we reached the land again! During the trip, we saw some wild birds flying above us.

Designing a Solar-Powered Car

Leo

I loved making my solar car for the competition. My dad offered to assist me with the difficult bits, but I wanted to do everything by myself. I spent all my pocket money on new materials from the science shop. During the race, my machine was actually quite slow, and all the other cars easily went past mine! But I didn’t mind. The judges loved the shape and the bright colours I used. Because of that, they gave me a special cup for having the most attractive car!

Maya

I didn’t know anything about the solar car race until my science instructor showed me the poster and told me to sign up. I didn’t want to spend any cash, so I searched my garage for useful items. I made my machine using empty plastic bottles and an old toy train. My car drove perfectly on the day, and no parts fell off! Making the car was so much fun. Actually, when I leave school, my dream is to go to university to learn how to build real eco-friendly cars!

Tariq

My older brother is brilliant at making things, so we worked together every evening to plan our solar vehicle. It wasn’t the prettiest car in the competition, but we thought it would be the fastest! Our science teacher came to watch the race and cheer for us. Sadly, right in the middle of the track, one of the small wheels fell off our car and rolled away. We couldn’t finish the race. Even though we didn’t win anything, we still had a fantastic weekend.

Canyon Helicopter Tours

Tom

I always wanted to see the canyon from the sky. It wasn’t cheap, but it was definitely worth every penny. I didn’t sit in the front with the person flying it, but my window seat was amazing. When we flew over the bottom of the canyon, I took my phone out and got some great pictures of the blue river. The weather was very hot, so the staff handed us cold water while we were looking out the windows. It was a perfect day.

Sarah

I bought my flight on the company’s website a month ago. When we arrived at the airport, my hands were shaking and I felt really nervous about going up in the air. However, the staff were very friendly. I was lucky because I got the chair right beside the man flying the machine. I had the best view! We saw the river, but I just looked at it instead of using my camera. The trip was thirty minutes long, which was exactly the right amount of time for me.

David

I didn’t know about this tour until my friend told me. We bought our tickets at the office, not on a computer. I wasn’t afraid of flying at all. In fact, I loved every second of it! My only problem was that it was over too fast. I really wanted to stay in the sky for another hour. Also, I have to say the tickets were very expensive. I spent a lot of my holiday cash on just one short trip. Still, the canyon looked beautiful from above.
