Falling asleep on the train

Oliver

Last Saturday, I was travelling to the city centre. I was supposed to go to the cinema with my classmates, but I closed my eyes for just ten minutes! When I finally woke up, the train was at the end of the line. Because of my silly mistake, I arrived after the movie was over. When I stepped onto the platform, I didn’t recognise any of the buildings. I had no idea which street to take. Fortunately, I used the map on my phone to find my way back. I didn’t have to buy a new ticket, which was lucky.

Chloe

I was so tired after playing a long basketball match that I quickly fell asleep on my journey home. I didn’t wake up until the train was completely empty. No one came to tell me, I just opened my eyes and realised I was miles away from my town! I left the station, but my phone battery was dead. I had to stop a man on the road to find out which bus to catch. The worst part was that I needed to pay for another ticket to return home, which meant my wallet was empty!

Max

I travel on the train every day, but last Tuesday was a disaster. I was reading a really boring book and just fell asleep. Suddenly, the ticket inspector had to shake my shoulder to tell me we were at the final stop! I was so embarrassed. While I was waiting on the platform for the next train back, my mother rang my mobile. She was quite frightened because I was an hour late for dinner. I didn’t have to spend anything to go back, but I felt really bad for making her feel so nervous.

A Group Tour to the Mountains

Lucas

My friends and I used a website to get our private bus. It was actually quite cheap to travel this way, so we had plenty of cash left for food. The journey up the snowy hills took three hours, but we brought some board games to play together, so nobody got bored. The driver was a really nice guy who told us funny stories. The best part of the drive was looking out the glass. We actually saw some brown bears running in the snow! I couldn’t believe it.

Sofia

Our mountain trip was lovely, but the ticket for the private coach was very expensive. I had to use all my pocket money for it! At least the bus arrived exactly when they promised, so we didn’t have to wait in the cold. My friends chatted and played with their phones, but the chairs were so soft that I just closed my eyes and rested for the whole trip. I woke up when we reached the top. It’s a pity we couldn’t see any animals from the road.

Mateo

Hiring a bus for our group was a good idea, but there were some problems. First, we stood in the street for thirty minutes before it finally came. Then, the man at the front wasn’t very friendly and told us to be quiet. Because he was quite angry, my friends just put their headphones on and listened to music alone instead of talking. I tried to catch some sleep, but I couldn’t shut my eyes because the music was too loud. The mountains were beautiful, though.

Travelling with heavy bags

Alex

I usually take the bus to my office, but this morning I had two huge suitcases. So, I decided to catch the train instead. It was eight o’clock in the morning, which means everyone was going to work, and the station was completely full. Because my suitcases were so large, the ticket office told me I couldn’t just use my normal pass. I had to buy a special, more expensive ticket for them. A nice lady asked if I wanted her to carry one, but they had wheels, so I managed fine by myself. Next time, I will travel later.

Bella

Last week, I took the underground with a very heavy sports bag. I didn’t have to pay extra for it, which was lucky. However, the station didn’t have a lift. I tried to pull the bag up the stairs, but it was impossible. My arms felt very tired, though nothing was broken or hurt. Finally, I had to request a young man to carry it to the top for me. He was very kind! I cannot do that again. Before my next trip, I am going to the shops to find a good backpack with strong wheels.

Chris

I always take the tram to the airport, and yesterday was no different. I chose to leave at two in the afternoon because it is quiet and there aren’t many people. However, my suitcase was enormous. I left it near the entrance of the tram, and unfortunately, it blocked the way. Nobody could get on or off easily, and they looked quite annoyed with me. When I finally arrived, I picked the suitcase up the wrong way and now I have a terrible pain in my shoulder. It really aches today!
