Buying Favourite Souvenirs

Leo

When I travel, I always want to remember my trip. I usually look for colourful t-shirts or warm hats because I love putting them on when I go out. Some of my mates buy sweet snacks to take home, but I prefer enjoying them during the holiday! I also love picking up large photos or maps from the places I visit. As soon as I get back, I hang them up in my room above my bed. I keep all these things for myself, so I never get presents for anyone else.

Maria

I never buy clothes when I visit a new city because they are usually quite expensive. I prefer to keep my cash and find things that are very cheap. It takes me hours to walk around the shops and find the perfect thing; I never buy the first object I see! I always search for pencils, small notebooks, or rulers. They are great because I can use them in my classroom when I return. I don’t buy large photos because I don’t have any space on my bedroom walls for them.

Sam

I don’t like keeping souvenirs in my house. Instead, I love finding nice things for my parents and my sister. I always get them traditional cakes, special local tea, or tasty chocolate. They always enjoy trying these wonderful things! I don’t spend a long time looking in the shops. I usually spot something delicious and pay for it immediately. Sometimes I see nice bags for school, but my backpack is already fine. I just want to share the amazing flavours of my holiday with my family.

Winter Holidays in the Snow

Oliver

Most of my friends love relaxing by the sea, but I think the mountains are much better. Every January, I travel there with my parents, my grandparents, and all my cousins. We share a big cabin, so it gets quite full, but it is always amazing! Some people think snow holidays are boring, but I am very active. Last year, I bought a snowboard and I am taking lessons to get better at it. It is difficult, but I love trying something new! I don’t need heavy jackets because I get hot while moving around.

Chloe

I really do not understand why people love the beach. I prefer the snow! I just go with my mum and dad, so it is a quiet trip. I always bring my smartphone to snap pictures of the beautiful white hills and trees. Everything looks incredible! After a morning of skiing, my favourite thing is sitting outside in the freezing weather to have a bowl of hot soup. Also, winter trips save us money. We don’t spend as much cash as we do in the summer because we don’t buy lots of things from tourist shops.

Max

For me, winter holidays are the best. In July, there is absolutely no space on the sand because everyone wants to be there. During winter, the snowy forests are empty and quiet, which is exactly what I need. Skiing can cost a lot of money, but I don’t mind. I leave my phone inside our hotel because I don’t want to look at screens or take any photos. The weather is usually freezing, so I have to pull on three thick sweaters and a huge coat before I go out! It is totally worth it.

Memorable Boat Tours

Leo

My parents and I went on a river tour last weekend. We left at midday, and I was quite hungry. Luckily, the staff brought us bowls of warm soup and fresh bread. The tickets weren’t too expensive, which my dad liked. A man on the boat talked about the different trees we passed, but he didn’t share any old stories about the area. The best moment was when three dolphins swam right next to us! I loved watching them jump. Our boat sailed quite slowly, so it was a very relaxing afternoon and nobody had a bad stomach.

Maya

For my mum’s birthday, we chose a trip across the great lake. We paid a very high price for our tickets, but the experience was amazing. Our boat didn’t travel slowly at all; it crossed the water at top speed! Even with all that movement, my tummy felt completely fine. We spent hours looking for sea birds or fish, but they were all hiding. The staff offered us cold sandwiches, but we decided to wait until we got back to land. The sun was bright in the sky the entire time, making it a perfect afternoon.

Toby

Our family ocean trip started terribly because it was raining heavily and the wind was really strong. Because the water was moving up and down so much, my stomach felt awful and I had to go to sleep on a chair. However, the woman driving our boat was brilliant. She explained exactly how the town’s famous old castle was built hundreds of years ago. I couldn’t finish my cold chicken sandwich because of how I felt. Our boat sailed quite slowly through the waves, so we had plenty of time to take pictures.
