Inside our grand hall, you can admire an incredible collection of royal shields, metal armour, and historic swords. When you get hungry, head down to our cosy tea room to choose from a selection of hot soups and warm pies.

E Oakridge Castle

We are open exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer season. Spend your afternoon in the fresh air learning ancient castle sports, sword-fighting games, and traditional teamwork activities on our lawns. Visitors arriving by vehicle will also be pleased to know that our large car park costs absolutely nothing.

F The Red Tower

If you love outdoor action, come and practice traditional horse-riding games and archery on our vast green fields. Our events are very popular with families because we have great kids’ areas. Please note we are only open from Monday to Friday, and there is a parking fee for cars.

G Riverfront Castle

This stunning historic site is located right next to the local bus station for easy transport. Guests can listen to an audio guide while looking at empty rooms. We offer a completely peaceful experience with no loud shows or tournaments, making it perfect for anyone looking to relax in silence.

D Oakhaven Castle

This magnificent property is still a private household, featuring impressive historic desks and wardrobes dating back to the 1600s. Guests are completely free to snap pictures of the interiors throughout the indoor galleries. We also provide a massive, free area right outside for vehicles of all sizes, including coaches and buses.

E Windsorburn Estate

Discover what it takes to look after a huge fortress today from the relatives who actually live here. Head into the media room to view an interesting documentary detailing the estate’s rich background. Unlike many other historical sites in the area, our gates welcome guests every day, including Mondays.

F Eagle Rock Castle

This ancient property remains a private family home, and guests can enjoy eating their sandwiches on the grass outside. However, we ask that you do not bring young children, as we have no facilities for them. Instead, adults can enjoy our boutique shop and beautifully kept traditional vegetable gardens.

G Blackwood Fortress

The current owners of this lovely home invite you to join one of our experts for a fantastic historical walk around the property. You can also watch a great digital presentation about the building. Unfortunately, there is nowhere to buy food or drinks on-site, and we are closed on Mondays.

Wander through the rooms of this occupied estate and admire the stunning antique chairs and mirrors. We have a huge parking space that easily fits larger vehicles and buses. Please be aware that to protect the historical items, using cameras or phones for photos is strictly forbidden anywhere inside the building.

2   Maria doesn’t have a car, so the fort must be easy to reach by train. She enjoys listening to recorded stories on headphones while exploring. Before she goes home, she hopes to purchase some reading material about the location’s history.

3   Leon is fascinated by traditional fighting equipment and wants to see actual swords and cannons. He learns best when an expert walks around and speaks to him. He works all day, so he must visit the battlefield after dark.

4   Sofia is bringing her young kids, so the location must offer fun, interactive activities to keep them entertained. They prefer to explore the inside of a building rather than stay outside. Since she is driving, she requires unpaid parking.

Don’t forget to stop by our visitor store, which is packed with fantastic literature and books about the area.

D Iron Tower

Step inside and examine our incredible collection of historic metal swords, heavy cannons, and soldiers’ uniforms. Our knowledgeable staff provide excellent walking tours, sharing exciting stories of past victories. Please note that our gates close strictly at 4 p.m., so afternoon or night visits are not possible.

E Shadow Hill Battlefield

Walk with our fantastic staff members who will explain everything about the site. You will also get up close to authentic historical guns, blades, and heavy battle equipment.

F Redstone Castle

Leave your vehicle in our massive visitor lot without spending a penny. Once inside the thick stone walls, your family can stay dry and warm. Little ones will love the special touch-screen games and puzzles designed just for them, making it a perfect educational day out for families.

G Cliffs Edge Fort

Situated right on the coast, this historic defensive building offers breathtaking views of the blue water. H Seagull Battery

Enjoy wonderful sights of the crashing waves from this historic coastal defence point. There is plenty of space to run around on the grass and enjoy the fresh air. Unfortunately, because of the steep cliffs and hundreds of narrow steps, it is completely unsuitable for those with mobility issues.
