A peaceful lunch in the sun

Jamie is a fourteen-year-old student. It is the summer term at his school, and the weather is very warm. Usually, students eat inside the school canteen, but it is always very noisy there. Now, Jamie has a new routine. Every day, he takes his food and sits on the green grass in the school garden.

His mum always makes delicious cheese sandwiches for him, but sometimes he goes to the shop to buy a fresh salad. While he eats his lunch, Jamie loves feeling the warm sun on his face. He never uses his mobile phone on the grass. Instead, he prefers looking at the sky or reading a funny comic.

During the first week of summer, Jamie ate his lunch alone. However, his best friend Emma saw him one day and decided to sit with him. Now, three or four other classmates join them on the grass. They don’t play football or run around. They just relax and talk about their favourite music and plans for the weekend.
