A documentary about fast food

Sam

I really liked this film. Before watching it, I knew fast food had a lot of fat, but I couldn’t believe they put so many sweet things in it too! The loud sounds at the beginning gave me a headache, but the information was great. I still love eating chips, so I won’t stop completely. However, I really believe teachers need to play this video for their pupils. It is important for young people to know exactly what they are putting in their bodies.

Alex

The documentary had some great moments. For example, the songs they played in the background were fantastic. I also thought the chats with the men and women who cook and serve the meals were the best part. They work really hard! But the film was very long. When the doctors started explaining science, I almost fell asleep in the middle of it. I didn’t feel hungry at all after it finished; actually, looking at all that hot oil just made me feel a bit sick!

Charlie

I learned a lot from this movie. Some people thought it was too long, but I kept my eyes open the whole time. It was really interesting to hear the doctors speaking about our health. The strange thing is, even though the film showed how bad the meals are, seeing all those burgers on the screen actually made me want to go out and buy a large pizza! But after thinking about it, I’ve decided I am never going to eat in those kinds of places again.

Packing a healthy snack

Anna

Every morning, I put an apple in my backpack. I am lucky because we have a big tree behind my house, so I just pick one before I leave. I don’t buy them from the supermarket! Some of my classmates share their snacks, but I eat my whole apple by myself. I usually feel very hungry when my gymnastics class finishes, and eating this sweet food gives me energy again. I don’t like cold fruit, so it is a perfect snack for me.

Ben

I always take a banana to school. I wash it and put it in my bag in the evening because I wake up very late! I like bananas because they cost almost nothing at the market, which is great for my pocket money. We have a garden, but we only grow vegetables there. Also, the meals in the student cafeteria are terrible, so having a tasty snack stops me from feeling hungry. I usually eat it while I watch the boys play football.

Chloe

I love grapes and I always carry a small box of them in my bag. The best thing about grapes is that you don’t need a fridge for them. They taste fine even if my backpack gets hot in the sun! Every day at break time, I sit with my best friend and we eat them together. She loves them too. My parents buy them for me every weekend. They spend quite a lot of cash on them, but they know it is a healthy habit.

Skipping Breakfast

Liam

I usually get up very early, so I have plenty of time before my classes begin. But I never feel hungry first thing in the morning. Before I walk out the door, I just make myself a cup of tea. However, my teacher told me that my school work wasn’t very good because I couldn’t focus. So, last month, I began having a bowl of cereal every day. Suddenly, I did much better in my maths tests! Now I understand how important it is.

Chloe

I almost never eat before I leave for school from Monday to Friday. But on Saturdays and Sundays, I love cooking eggs and lots of toast! During the week, if I don’t put anything in my stomach, I can’t keep my eyes open by 11 a.m. I also become easily annoyed with the people in my class if I am hungry. I just want to sit alone and drink water until it is time for the lunch break. It really makes learning difficult.

Noah

I know that eating a good breakfast helps people get higher scores in exams. But I love sleeping, so I stay in bed until the very last minute! Because I am always in a hurry, I never sit down with my family in the dining room. Instead, I grab an apple or a banana and finish it on the bus. It is not a lot of food, but it helps me pay attention to the teacher. I plan to try waking up earlier soon!
