A Helpful Trip to the Supermarket
My name is Leo, and I am fourteen years old. Usually, my mum goes to the supermarket every Saturday morning to buy our food. However, this weekend she was quite sick and had to stay in bed. Because of this, she asked me to do the weekly grocery shopping. She gave me a long list and some cash.
When I arrived at the large supermarket in our town, I felt a little worried. Mum told me to be careful with the money, so my plan was to find the cheapest items. First, I went to the fruit and vegetable section. I looked at the prices carefully. I bought a big bag of apples because they were much cheaper than the bananas.
Next, I needed to get some bread, milk, and eggs. While I was walking down the aisles, I saw my favorite chocolate biscuits. I really wanted to put them in my basket. However, I remembered mum’s advice and decided to save the money instead. I found everything on the list without spending too much.
Finally, I went to pay for the groceries. The shop assistant was very friendly and put everything in my backpack. I walked back home and gave the change to my mum. She was incredibly surprised and thanked me for doing such a great job. I felt very proud that I could help my family.

A Morning at the Market
My name is Sam and I am a university student. I really love cooking. Usually, students sleep late on Saturday mornings, but I always wake up early. Last Saturday, I wanted to prepare a special dinner for my parents, so I decided to visit the colourful weekend market in my town.
When I arrived, the market was already busy and noisy. First, I needed some fresh vegetables for my soup. I walked past a lot of tables before I stopped to speak to a friendly farmer. I wanted to get some carrots, but he didn’t have any. Instead, I bought some huge red tomatoes and a kilo of green peppers.
After that, I went to look for some local honey. I wanted to use it to make a sweet dessert. I finally found an old lady selling different types of honey. She gave me a little spoon to try some. It tasted absolutely fantastic! I quickly bought a large jar to take home.
My bags were incredibly heavy, so I had to catch the bus back to my flat. I felt quite tired after all the walking, but I was extremely excited to begin cooking. The weekend market is definitely cheaper and much better than the local supermarket. I am going to go there every week!

The Missing Shopping List
Last Saturday morning, my dad asked me to do the weekly shopping. ‘Here is the shopping list and some money,’ he said. I felt very happy because he usually goes to the supermarket himself. I took a big, green shopping bag from the kitchen and walked to the store.
When I arrived at the supermarket, I wanted to read the piece of paper. I put my hand in my jacket pocket, but it was empty. Then, I looked in my jeans, but the list wasn’t there. I suddenly felt very hot and worried. I couldn’t believe I lost it!
I walked around the store and tried to remember everything. Did Dad write down chicken or fish? I knew we needed milk and some apples, so I put those in my basket. I thought about calling my dad on my mobile phone, but I didn’t want him to be angry. I was afraid to tell him about my mistake.
Then, I needed to find my wallet to check my money. I looked inside the green shopping bag. Under my wallet, there was a small piece of white paper. It was the list! I felt so much better. I quickly bought the food and went home. Next time, I will be more careful!
