The Teenager Sharing Stories with His Street
Fifteen-year-old Sam loves reading. His bedroom is full of novels and comic books. One day, he realised that many people in his street didn’t read much because the town library was too far away. Sam wanted to change this, so he decided to build a mini free library for his neighbours.
Sam needed some strong wood to make the little book house. His grandfather had some old pieces in his garage, so he gave them to Sam. Together, they cut the wood and built a small box with a glass door. After that, Sam painted it bright blue because he wanted everyone to see it from the street.
When the little library was ready, Sam put it in his front garden and placed twenty books inside. For the first two days, nobody stopped to look. Sam felt quite worried. But on Wednesday, an old lady from the next street took a history book and left a science-fiction novel. Soon, more people started visiting.
Now, the blue box is always full of different books. People often stand in front of Sam’s house and chat about their favourite stories. Sam is extremely happy that his project brought the street together. Next month, he hopes to build a small wooden bench next to it, so people can sit and read in the sun.
