Sixteen-year-old Tom is on a school trip to Tokyo. On Saturday morning, he wanted to visit a famous comic book store on the other side of the city. His teacher gave him a map of the underground metro system. Tom was surprised. The map had twenty different lines and looked like a bowl of colourful spaghetti!
Tom walked down into the station near his hotel. It was incredibly busy with people going to work. Tom needed to catch a train on the red line. He looked at the signs, but they were very difficult to understand. Because he was in a hurry, he made a mistake and got on the orange line instead.
After three stops, Tom looked out of the window and realised he was going the wrong way. He quickly got off the train. He felt a little worried, but he found a friendly station worker. The worker spoke some English and showed Tom the correct way to go on his phone.
Finally, Tom arrived at the comic book store. The journey took a long time, but he felt incredibly proud of himself. He managed to travel across a huge foreign city alone. He bought some great comics, and this time, he knew exactly which train to catch back to his hotel.

Two Wheels by the Sea
Sixteen-year-old Lucas was on holiday with his parents in the small coastal town of Seaview. On his second day, he wanted to explore the area. He thought that walking took too much time, and travelling by car meant missing all the beautiful details. So, he decided to rent a bicycle.
After breakfast, Lucas walked to a small rental shop near his hotel. He really wanted to get a blue mountain bike, but unfortunately, it was too large for him. Instead, the friendly shop owner gave him a green city bike. It had a comfortable seat and a useful basket, so Lucas was quite happy with it.
He started his journey along a quiet path next to the sea. The weather was bright and sunny. After riding for an hour, Lucas stopped at a popular beach café. He looked at the delicious chocolate ice cream, but he felt very thirsty, so he just bought a large glass of cold lemonade. While resting, he watched the local fishermen and took some fantastic photos of their old boats.

Sam’s Unexpected Journey
Fourteen-year-old Sam was very excited about his summer sports camp in the mountains. He packed his bags the night before so he was ready. Unfortunately, his alarm clock didn’t ring in the morning. He woke up late and ran all the way to the bus station. When he arrived, the bus was not there. He missed it by five minutes!
Sam felt extremely worried. He immediately phoned his mother, but she was busy at work and couldn’t leave her office to drive him. Then, Sam noticed the town’s train station across the street. He quickly walked over to look at the timetable to see if there was another way to travel.
