Leo’s Missing Suitcase

Sixteen-year-old Leo was very excited. He was at a huge international airport in London to visit his older cousin, Mark, for the summer holidays. After he got off the plane, he walked to the baggage area. There were hundreds of people everywhere. He stood next to the carousel and waited for his large blue suitcase to appear.

After thirty minutes, the carousel stopped moving. Leo’s suitcase wasn’t there. He felt really worried. All his favourite clothes and his new camera were inside it! Suddenly, he saw a blue bag on the floor. He ran to check it, but it had a red handle. Leo’s suitcase had a black handle. It belonged to an old man.

Leo didn’t know what to do, so he went to the airport help desk. A friendly woman worked there. She asked Leo to fill in a form and describe his luggage. Leo told her that his suitcase was dark blue with a bright yellow sticker on the front. She told him to sit down and wait.

Two hours later, the woman called his name. She had his suitcase! She explained that it went on the wrong plane, but another worker found it. Leo thanked her immediately. He walked out of the airport, found his cousin Mark, and finally started his holiday.

Sam’s Cheap Summer Travel

Sixteen-year-old Sam loves the summer holidays. This year, he wanted to visit his best friends who live near the sea in the south of the country. However, there was a problem. A journey by train is very fast, but tickets are usually extremely expensive when you buy them at the station. Sam decided to look on the internet to find a better price.

He asked his older sister, Chloe, for some advice. She showed him a great travel website on her laptop. First, Sam had to make a new account. Then, he typed in the days he wanted to travel. He learned something very interesting. He saw that catching a train at six o’clock in the morning costs much less money than travelling in the afternoon.

Sam found a fantastic ticket for his trip. It was half the price of a normal one! He used the pocket money he saved from his weekend job to pay for it online. After that, the website sent an email to his phone. Sam didn’t need to print the ticket because he could just show the screen to the ticket inspector.

The summer holidays start next week, and Sam is incredibly excited. He feels very proud because he organised the whole journey by himself and saved a lot of cash. Now, his classmates want to go on a trip too, and Sam is going to teach them how to book cheap tickets.

A Race Against Time

Fifteen-year-old Liam was very excited about his weekend trip. He planned to visit his older cousin in London. His train ticket was for nine o’clock in the morning. However, there was a big problem. His digital alarm clock was broken and it didn’t ring. When Liam finally opened his eyes, he looked at his watch and saw it was a quarter past eight.

He jumped out of bed and quickly put on his clothes. He didn’t have time to shower or pack his backpack carefully. Liam usually loves eating hot pancakes with fruit for his morning meal. But today, there was no time to cook. He just took a green apple from the kitchen table and ran out of the front door.

First, Liam hurried to the bus stop at the end of his street. Unfortunately, he saw the bus driving away. He didn’t want to walk, so he ran back home and got his bicycle. He rode as fast as he could through the busy town centre.

He arrived at the railway station at five minutes to nine. He locked his bike and ran quickly to platform four. The train was already there. Liam jumped inside just before the doors closed. He felt completely exhausted, but he was smiling. He was ready for a fantastic weekend!
