Capturing Fast Cars on Camera

Sixteen-year-old Ben has two great passions: fast vehicles and taking pictures. Of course, Ben cannot drive yet, and he doesn’t have enough money to buy his own sports car. Because of this, he spends his weekends visiting local car shows. He loves looking at the amazing machines and photographing them.

Ben doesn’t have an expensive modern camera. He uses an old one that his uncle gave him last year. Every Sunday morning, Ben wakes up at six o’clock. He leaves his house very early because he wants to arrive at the shows before the large crowds of people get there. This way, he can get the best view of the cars.

Last weekend, Ben went to a popular car show in the centre of his town. The weather was perfect. He took a brilliant photo of a beautiful red Italian sports car. While he was looking at the picture on his camera, the owner of the vehicle walked over and started chatting with him.

The man loved the photograph so much that he offered to pay for it. Ben felt incredibly proud and agreed immediately. Now, he uses the money to buy better photography equipment. When he is older, Ben hopes to work for a famous magazine and travel the world taking pictures of cars.

Leo’s Journey Through Car History

Fourteen-year-old Leo loves cars. However, he doesn’t want to drive them yet. Instead, he really enjoys learning about the history of famous car companies. Last month, his grandfather gave him a large book about cars, and Leo reads it every evening.

In the first chapter, Leo learned about the earliest cars. More than a hundred years ago, vehicles were extremely slow. They actually looked like bicycles with motors! Leo read about Ford, one of the first big companies. They found a way to build cars quickly, so many normal people could buy them.

After that, Leo studied how cars changed over time. In the 1950s and 1960s, European companies started making sports cars. Brands like Ferrari and Porsche built vehicles that were much faster and had beautiful, bright colours. Leo thinks these are the most interesting cars, and he spends his free time drawing them in his notebook.

Now, Leo is using his new knowledge for a science project at school. He is not writing about old cars for this, though. His project is about modern electric cars and how they help the environment. Leo thinks the story of cars is amazing. When he is older, he hopes to get a job designing new vehicles.

The Teenager Who Loves Transport Maths

Fifteen-year-old Toby has a very unusual hobby. While his classmates enjoy playing video games or reading comic books, Toby prefers looking at numbers. He loves learning about different vehicles, like cars, trains and buses. He spends hours calculating how fast they can go and how much their fuel costs.

This interesting hobby began last summer during a long family holiday. Toby’s dad was driving the car and he complained about the high price of petrol. Toby decided to use his tablet to help. He calculated exactly how much money the journey cost and how long it would take if they drove faster. His dad was very surprised!

Now, Toby has a large notebook filled with interesting facts. He spends his weekends comparing different types of transport. He knows that taking a bus is usually cheaper than driving, but cars are often faster. Sometimes, his maths teacher asks him to talk about his transport calculations with the other students in his class. They always listen carefully.

In the future, Toby hopes to use his skills to design electric cars. He thinks these vehicles are fantastic because they do not use expensive petrol and are better for the environment.
