Tracking Our Exercise
Liam
I saved my pocket money for six months to buy my smartwatch because I wanted to count my steps. I think it is great. Every evening, I put my daily walking numbers on a website so my friends can see how well I did. However, I often don’t remember to plug it into the wall before going to sleep, so the battery is frequently empty the next day. I only walk outside when it is sunny; if it rains, I do exercises in my room instead. Also, I always take the watch off before going into the sea or pool.
Sofia
My uncle bought me this wonderful watch for my fourteenth birthday. The screen is nice and large, so I can see everything perfectly. My favorite hobby is swimming, and this device is fantastic because it stays on my wrist at the pool and records all my movements. It is fully waterproof, so I also go for jogs along the river on wet, rainy days without any worries. My friends have similar smartwatches, but we never share our exercise charts or talk about our daily steps.
Noah
I wear my smartwatch every single day to stay fit. The battery is amazing because it keeps working for seven days, so it never turns off. It has a special alarm that shakes on my arm to wake me up every morning so I am never late for school. My only problem is that the glass screen is very tiny, making it hard to see the text and numbers when I am running fast. I like it so much that I want to buy one as a present for my brother next Christmas.

Using Smart Speakers in the Bedroom
Ben
My older brother gave me this little machine for my birthday. I love having it in my bedroom! Every night, I tell it to play quiet guitar sounds. It really helps me close my eyes and rest. I also use it to switch off my normal desk lamp when I am tired, so I didn’t need to buy any special bulbs for that. I am not the only one who uses the speaker, though. My little sister often comes into my room to ask it to play her favourite bands, too. We both enjoy it a lot.
Lily
I bought my smart speaker with my own pocket money a few months ago. After that, I saved up and purchased some different colour-changing bulbs for my ceiling. Now I can just say “make it blue” or “turn off,” and it happens! I usually tell it to put on fast pop songs when I am doing my homework. It is a great machine, but occasionally, I ask for a specific band, and it plays something completely wrong because it doesn’t catch my words clearly. That can be a bit annoying!
Max
I think my smart device is amazing. The best thing is that I can skip a boring track or turn the sound down while I am still lying under the covers. I don’t need to stand up and walk across the room at all! It always listens perfectly. It is also really useful for the start of the day. I tell the machine to turn on my lights at exactly seven o’clock. My room gets bright slowly, which makes getting out of bed for school much easier for me.

Reading E-books on a Digital Reader
Anna
I used to put four or five heavy novels in my bag when I went on trips. Now, my suitcase is much lighter because I only pack my e-reader! I bought it myself last year and it saves so much space. Another great thing is the screen. It has its own light, so when I am in bed, I can enjoy a story without turning on the light in my room. My brother David has bad eyes and needs big letters, but I actually prefer keeping the text quite small.
David
I didn’t spend my own money on this machine. My sister gave it to me for my birthday, and it is the best present ever! I mostly use it sitting on my sofa at home, rather than taking it on flights or trains. I really need glasses to read, so my favorite thing about this device is that I can increase the size of the letters. It makes reading so much easier for me. I don’t use the dictionary tool very much, but I read much faster now than I did with paper pages.
Maria
I read very quickly, so when I finish a story, I love that I can download the next one immediately from my sofa. I don’t need to drive to the bookstore at all! Also, if I find a difficult word in English, I just touch the screen to understand what it means. It’s very helpful. Even though I love my e-reader, I still spend cash on real printed novels sometimes, especially if the cover looks beautiful on my shelf. But for reading in the sun, my digital screen is perfect.
