Grading Homework Online

Mr. Green

I love using homework apps on my mobile. Instead of typing long comments on my computer, I just speak into my phone to record short notes for each student. It saves so much time! The platform is amazing because it marks short online tests immediately when the teenagers finish them. It was a bit expensive to buy, but it is worth it. I usually check everything in the morning with a cup of coffee before school begins, rather than working late at night.

Ms. White

My favorite website is ClassWork. When I put a grade on the screen, the system sends the marks straight to moms and dads so they know how their child is doing. It means I can sit on my sofa with my tablet before I go to sleep and easily finish all my marking. I have to type very quickly, but I like it better than recording my voice. A few students told me they prefer paper homework, but most find it easy to use.

Mrs. Black

I use GradeFast for my classes. The best thing is that it is a free program, so our school does not have to pay anything. I didn’t know how to use it at first, but I watched a quick film online to learn what to do, and now it is simple. The teenagers love it because they never drop or misplace their worksheets anymore—everything is safe online. It doesn’t check quizzes automatically, so I still have to read their essays myself, but it is much faster.

Foreign Language Oral Exams

Nina

I had my French speaking test yesterday. I didn’t want to prepare with my parents, so I just stood in front of my bedroom mirror and talked to myself. When I stood in front of my teacher, I was shaking! I tried to speak slowly, but I couldn’t think of the right French words for a minute, and I missed a few sentences. However, I found that giving a big smile really helped. I instantly felt calmer, and my teacher looked happy too. We have to wait until next week to get our grades.

Leo

My German speech was quite difficult to prepare. My older brother listened to my talk three times the night before, which was incredibly useful. On the day of the exam, I had to wait until everyone else finished before it was my turn. Waiting made me feel a bit sick! During the presentation, I didn’t need any drawings or notes because I remembered every detail perfectly. The best part was that my teacher didn’t make me wait for my score. She told me I got an ‘A’ right there! I am so happy.

Maya

For my Spanish test, I was the first person to stand up and speak. Because I was quite frightened, I rushed through my first few lines without taking a breath. My teacher asked me to stop and start again more carefully. To make the talk easier, I showed some photos of my last holiday on the board. If I forgot a Spanish word, I just had to look at the images, and the vocabulary came back to me. The teacher said she will email our scores tomorrow. I think I did a good job!

Help with Physics Homework

Oliver

Our science teacher gave us a hard task about space. Usually, I ask my older brother, but he was away at the weekend. So, I asked my dad on Monday evening. We read my physics textbook together, but my father couldn’t find the right answer. The information was just too complicated for him! He didn’t want to look on the internet. Instead, he helped me paint a large poster of the planets to take to school. When I gave it to my teacher, I scored the highest marks in the class!

Chloe

I always try to finish my school exercises by myself. But last month, our physics project was just impossible! My mum teaches history, so she didn’t know much about it either. We decided to sit down on Sunday afternoon to find the answers. We spent two hours reading different websites on her laptop to understand how light travels. We didn’t build a model, but we wrote a great essay. We didn’t get top marks, but it was really fun to learn new things with my mother.

Daniel

Our physics homework was to make a model of a moving car. I didn’t want to work on my own, so I asked my mother. She builds machines for her career, so this project was actually very easy for her! We didn’t look on the internet at all. Instead, we searched the kitchen and garage for materials. We built a fantastic little car using empty milk bottles and some old cardboard boxes. It took us three evenings during the week to finish it, and my teacher loved it!
