Math Apps on the Bus
Ryan
I enjoy practicing math on my phone, but I only use the app on the journey back to my house in the afternoon when school finishes. The other students on the vehicle are always shouting, so I can’t look at the video guides because it is hard to hear anything. Instead, I play the multi-player mode. I love trying to beat real people from other countries online! The app is totally free to download and use. The questions are quite simple, so I never get the wrong answer.
Mia
My favorite math program is great for the morning trip to school. I always play alone against the computer because I don’t like online competitions. I don’t use it to study for school exams; I use it just for fun. The bright puzzles and animated rewards look fantastic and keep me interested while we travel. The app doesn’t have any ads, but my mum has to pay a small fee every four weeks to keep it working. It is definitely worth it!
Owen
I use my tablet to study math while travelling on the bus. It doesn’t have any colorful animations or games, just simple numbers on a white screen. However, it is an excellent way to get ready for our weekly Friday quizzes. I usually watch the helpful lesson clips with my headphones on so I can hear the teacher clearly. It is a free application. My favorite part is that if I choose the wrong option, it immediately explains the correct way to solve the problem.

Doing Mock Exams
Anna
Before I started doing practice tests, I was very afraid of getting low scores. Now, I don’t feel stressed about doing badly anymore. When I take a mock test, I see that I actually have a lot of facts in my head, which makes me smile. My main problem used to be the clock. Doing practice papers is brilliant because I learn to finish all my writing before the bell rings. Sometimes I can’t answer a hard problem immediately, but my teacher always says not to panic.
Ben
Taking a mock exam is the best way to stop feeling nervous. The greatest part is that our teacher checks our papers and tells us exactly what we need to study more. This helps me fix my mistakes before the real day. I used to be very slow and worry about the time during lessons. But doing practice papers showed me how to stay calm if I see a really difficult problem. I just move to the next one and come back to it later. I hope my grade will be high this year!
Clara
Our school always lets us do our practice tests in the big sports hall, which is where the real exam happens. Sitting at those desks makes me feel so comfortable when the actual day arrives. I also love mock exams because I can look at the shape of the paper. I know exactly how many sections there are, so there are no scary surprises. My friend said practice tests helped her realise how much she remembers, but for me, it’s all about feeling ready for the room. My teacher gave us great tips for studying at home, too.

Celebrating Exam Results
Liam
I didn’t think I did well on the math test, so seeing an ‘A’ on my paper was a huge shock! To celebrate, I asked some classmates to come over to my place on Friday evening. We decided to order from the local takeaway because the delivery driver always arrives very quickly. We just got our usual favorite topping: double pepperoni. The pizzas were absolutely massive! They were definitely too big for one person, so my friend Toby and I had half each. It was the perfect way to spend the evening and forget about studying for a while.
Noah
I studied every night for a month, so I was sure I would get high marks in my exams. When I got my results, my mum and dad were extremely pleased. They told me to keep my pocket money in my wallet, and they bought all the food for a special dinner. We didn’t go out to a restaurant. Instead, we stayed in and baked the meal ourselves in our kitchen! We didn’t want to share, so everyone prepared their own small one. We listened to some music and had a really wonderful family evening.
Emma
When my friends and I saw our amazing test results, we immediately walked to the Italian café in the city center. It was a Friday night, so the place was completely full. We sat at our table for almost an hour before the waiter finally brought our plates! I spent all my savings because the meal wasn’t cheap, but it was worth it. I always ask for a plain cheese topping, but this time I picked chicken and sweetcorn for a change. The chef cooked it beautifully, and we ate every single slice.
