The New Town Cinema
Leo
I visited the new cinema last Friday. I didn’t pay for my entry because my best friend invited me. The best thing for me was the decorations. Everywhere you looked, there were amazing pictures from famous movies from the past. The seats are made of wood, which looks very cool, but honestly, my back hurt a little bit after sitting there for two hours. However, the people who checked our tickets always had a big smile and answered all our questions. I will definitely go again!
Maya
I turned fifteen last weekend, so my friends took me to this new place to celebrate. It is a fantastic building! When we walked in, I didn’t really look at the old movie pictures on the walls because I just wanted to find my place in the dark. The wooden furniture looks hard, but it is actually really soft and easy to relax in. I almost fell asleep during the film! I had such a wonderful time, and I can’t wait to show this place to my mum and dad.
Sam
I finally went to see a film at the new cinema. The halls are full of classic movie posters, but I didn’t care much about them. The man selling drinks was quite slow and didn’t even say hello to me. Also, I had to spend all my pocket money just to get inside. However, while watching the screen, I bought some warm chocolate popcorn and it was absolutely fantastic! My brothers want to go there soon, but I told them they should find a cheaper place to watch movies.

Our visit to Eureka!
Sam
I went to the Eureka! museum with my dad. The tickets didn’t cost anything, which was great. My favourite thing was a huge metal ball that makes your hair stand up. It gave me a shock and I was quite afraid for a minute! I didn’t like how crowded it was, though. Hundreds of kids were hitting buttons and yelling, so there was just too much noise everywhere. My ears actually hurt by the time we walked out. I also tried a puzzle where you have to put blocks in a box, but it was impossible!
Ben
The museum was amazing! I met my cousin there and we touched almost everything. We spent a long time in a room that shows what happens inside our stomachs when we eat food. It was disgusting but I discovered a lot! However, the greatest part for me was the area about the stars and planets. We even got to walk on a floor that feels like the moon. Some kids were shouting, but I didn’t mind the sounds. I wanted to get a poster at the exit, but the prices were very high.
Lily
I loved touching the different things at Eureka! In the engineering zone, my friends and I used hundreds of plastic bricks to put together a really long bridge. It was hard work but so much fun! I enjoyed it so much that I am going to bring my younger brother here next weekend. He will love it. The building has a lot of open areas to run around, so you don’t feel squashed. Before going home, I stopped at the gift shop and used my pocket money to get a little science kit.

Visiting the International Art Gallery
Max
Our teacher took us to the new art building yesterday. They have amazing pictures from France and Italy at the moment. My parents went last week, but I didn’t go with them. I really enjoyed looking at the art from hundreds of years ago. I thought they were much more beautiful than the new ones. After looking around, I got a sandwich in the café, but I didn’t get any souvenirs because the shop was closed. We didn’t queue at all, which was lucky!
Lily
My aunt went to this gallery in the city centre and said it was fantastic, so I decided to go. A lot of students from my college visit it, but I went alone. It is brilliant because you can see famous art from all over the world without paying a single penny to get in! Before I left, I went to the little store inside and got a beautiful postcard of a Spanish painting to put on my bedroom wall. I don’t think I will go back because it is very far from my house.
Omar
I wanted to see the famous paintings from Japan, so I travelled to the gallery on Saturday. So many people wanted to go inside that I stood in a line for an hour before I could walk through the doors! You have to pay twenty pounds for a student ticket, which is certainly not cheap for someone my age. However, the Japanese art was wonderful. I liked both the old and the new pictures. Next month, the gallery is bringing some art from Egypt, so I am going to make another trip there.
