Decorating Our Bedroom Walls

Leo

I love looking at beautiful things before I go to sleep. I don’t really buy expensive posters of my favourite bands from the shops. Instead, I stick up drawings and paintings that my classmates gave to me. I think they are amazing! I use special tape to put them up so they don’t damage the paint. I never keep the same images up for a long time. I prefer to take them down and put up new ones every few weeks. I like having lots of empty wall around each paper so my room looks tidy.

Maya

My bedroom is a very relaxing place. I only collect photographs that are black and white, because I don’t like seeing bright reds or blues in my room. To stop my favourite posters from getting dirty or torn, I always buy wooden squares with glass for them. They look much nicer this way! My brother hangs his things on a line across his room, but I prefer to use nails. Once I put a picture on my wall, I leave it there for years. I hate moving things around!

Sam

Above my bed, I have a huge collection of pictures. It is completely covered from top to bottom, so you can’t even see the paint behind them! I mostly collect posters of singers and guitar players from my favourite rock groups. I also have lots of photos of my friends. Buying glass boxes for all of them would cost too much money. Instead, I tie a long piece of wool from one corner of the room to the other, and attach my photos to it with little wooden clips. It looks fantastic!

Our Wooden Bookshelves

Liam

My wooden bookshelf is very special to me because my father and I constructed it from old wood. We worked on it all weekend! I decided to keep the natural brown wood, so I never painted it. I keep all my heavy dictionaries and history notebooks on it. The only problem is that I have too many things for school, and there just isn’t enough room on the shelves for everything. I will have to build a second one soon! The materials were quite expensive, but it looks great in my bedroom.

Maya

I found my wooden bookshelf in a second-hand shop in town. It was a really low price, which was great for my pocket money! When I bought it, it was dark black, but I thought that was boring. So, last week, I used a brush to make it bright yellow to match my desk. It is huge, so there is plenty of space for all my science books and maths folders. I even have space to put my favorite board games and teddy bears next to my pens!

Sam

I use a tall wooden bookshelf to organize my daily school life. My grandfather bought it for me for my birthday last year, so I didn’t spend any cash at all. It is a beautiful dark grey, and I would never use a brush on it. It has five long shelves. I use three of them for my geography maps and English reading texts. I only keep my studies there. Because the piece of furniture is so big, my younger sister puts her school bags on the bottom. It helps both of us!

Keeping Our Desks Tidy

Oliver

Doing lots of homework can make a terrible mess. I have a clever way to stay organised. I buy folders in red, blue, and yellow to store all my notes. It means I never lose my science or history work! My sister likes listening to pop songs while she cleans, but I need quiet. I always put everything away right before I get into bed. That way, my desk is completely clear for the next morning. Sometimes I eat a biscuit here, but I always wipe the table afterwards.

Hannah

My desk is quite small, so I have to be careful. I built a little wooden box in my technology class, and I keep all my pens and pencils in it. It is really useful! When I finish my maths or English tasks, I look for any old notes I don’t need. I drop them in the bin straight away. Putting things away is quite boring, so I always put on my favourite band on my phone. The songs make the job much faster. I leave my textbooks on my desk because my backpack is too heavy.

Lucas

I do my homework at a large table in my bedroom. I try to keep it completely clear. To do this, I leave my heavy backpack downstairs in the kitchen. I only bring up the exact textbook I need for that evening. Also, doing homework makes me hungry! However, I never have crisps or fruit at my table because they make a mess. I always go to the dining room if I want something to eat. I don’t use bright folders to organize my things. I just stack everything in a neat pile when I am done.
