Our Beautiful Window Views

Maya

I live on the ground floor, and my bedroom has a huge window. I spend a lot of time looking at the street because it’s fun to see my neighbors going to work or the shops. I have a comfortable chair right next to the glass, and I often enjoy my favorite stories there. Because the window is so large, I feel like I am sitting in the fresh air, even when I am inside. At night, I always close the curtains because I don’t like the dark. I also use an alarm clock because the early sun doesn’t usually get me out of bed.

Tom

My bedroom is at the top of a tall building. I love painting pictures, and the big window gives me all the sunshine I need to see my colors perfectly. I tried enjoying a novel by the window once, but it was too warm! I really don’t like looking outside when it’s raining or cloudy. However, the best part is late in the evening. When the sun goes down, I love looking at all the beautiful city lights. It is much better than looking at the street during the day.

Samira

My family’s house is in the countryside, so I have a wonderful view of the hills. There are no neighbors around, so I never see anyone on the road. I love seeing the sunshine, and even when it is raining or snowing, it is beautiful to watch from my warm room. The best thing is how bright my room gets early in the day. The sun shines right on my face, which means I never have trouble getting out of bed! I wish I could paint the view, but I am not very good at art.

Sharing a Bedroom

Ben

Sharing with my little brother, Leo, is not always easy. Both of our walls are painted white, so we don’t use paint to show whose side is whose. Instead, we have a line on the rug. The problem is that my half is just a tiny corner for my desk, and it really isn’t big enough for me to do my homework comfortably. Another thing is that Leo usually gets tired by eight o’clock in the evening. I like to stay awake reading, but I have to turn the lamp off early so he can rest.

Anna

My teenage sister and I share a very wide bedroom. We keep all our dresses and jackets in a huge wardrobe here, so we never argue about clothes. Both our beds are on the floor, but we wanted to make the room feel like two separate places. So, we put a large wooden bookshelf exactly in the centre to hide each other! We also use different styles. My half has yellow blankets and posters, while her area is completely blue. It makes us feel like we have our own private apartments!

Tom

My brother and I have a great way to share our bedroom. Because we have lots of space, we never fight about who gets more. To make more room to play, we got a special double bed. I sleep near the ceiling, and my brother’s mattress is directly underneath me! Every six months, we swap, so nobody gets bored. We usually turn the lights out at the exact same time. The best part is that we don’t have a wardrobe inside. We leave our coats and trousers in the hall outside, which makes the bedroom feel huge!

Our Favourite Reading Armchairs

Max

I love my brilliant yellow armchair. I saved my pocket money for months to get it, and I gave the shop assistant all my cash last week! When it arrived, we put it downstairs in the sitting room. However, my dad helped me carry it upstairs to my bedroom yesterday because it was too noisy down there. I didn’t want a black or brown seat, so I chose this bright colour. It is extremely soft, but I never close my eyes and rest in it because I am always too busy enjoying my favourite comic books!

Olivia

My armchair is right next to the window, so I can watch what is happening in the garden while I turn the pages of my novels. It is a very wide seat, which is great because my dog always jumps up to relax next to me when I read. My brother got a similar chair with his own money, but mine was a wonderful birthday present. The material is very light grey, so it is definitely not dark. I never have a nap in it, but I spend hours sitting there every afternoon.

Sam

My favourite place to read is a big, black armchair. It doesn’t look modern, and that is because my grandfather bought it forty years ago. I am only fourteen, so it has been in our family for much longer than I have! It is in the corner of my room, away from the windows. When I finish a long chapter of a difficult book, I usually feel very tired. The cushions are so comfortable that I often close my eyes and catch some sleep. I don’t let our cat jump on it, though!
