Lily’s Warning Posters

Lily is a fourteen-year-old student who loves art. Last month, her town had some terrible weather with very heavy storms. The streets were quickly full of water, and Lily felt extremely frightened. She noticed that many of her neighbours did not know what to do, so she decided to help them understand the danger.

Instead of painting flowers or animals, Lily used her computer to design warning posters. She drew dark clouds, big waves, and strong winds. Under the pictures, she wrote a short message. It told people to stay inside their homes and pack a bag with food and water.

After she finished, Lily asked her teachers if she could put the posters on the school walls. Then, her dad walked around the town with her. They left the posters in the supermarket and the local library. Lily was glad when she saw shoppers stopping to read her information.
