David’s Weather Station

Fourteen-year-old David loves learning about science. Last month, his teacher talked about climate change. David wanted to know more about the weather in his own town, so he decided to build a simple weather station in his garden.

He didn’t need to buy expensive equipment to do this. He used an old plastic bottle to catch and measure the rain. He also bought a small thermometer to check how hot or cold the air was. He put everything on a wooden table in the middle of the garden, where the trees couldn’t stop the rain.

Every morning before school, David goes outside with his notebook. He writes down the temperature and checks how much rain fell during the night. Sometimes, he also looks at the sky and writes down if it is windy or cloudy.

After a month, David showed his notebook to his science teacher, Mr Jones. Mr Jones was very impressed with David’s hard work. He asked David to talk about his weather station in front of the class. Now, some of his classmates want to build their own weather stations too!
