Leo’s Recycling Robot

Fourteen-year-old Leo lives in the quiet town of Greenford. Recently, the town had a big problem. People were putting their plastic in the wrong bins. The town council wanted to start a new recycling campaign, but they needed a fun mascot to make it interesting. So, they asked local school students to draw some ideas for the town.

Leo really enjoys art, so he decided to try. At first, it was difficult to think of anything good. His friends drew strong superheroes and cute animals, but Leo wanted to do something completely different. One evening, he looked at his family’s rubbish bin in the kitchen and finally got a brilliant idea.

He drew a funny robot and called it ‘Bottle Pete’. The robot’s body was made of empty water bottles, and it had a huge smile on its face. Leo painted his mascot bright green because he thinks it is the perfect colour for nature and the environment.

A few weeks later, the council chose the winner. Leo couldn’t believe it when he heard his name! Now, you can see ‘Bottle Pete’ on large posters all over Greenford.
