Tom’s Weekend Eco-Club
Fourteen-year-old Tom loves his school, but last month he noticed a big problem. After lunchtime, the school playground was always really messy. There were empty plastic bottles and pieces of paper everywhere. Tom felt quite unhappy about this and decided he had to do something to make it better.
The next day, Tom spoke to his science teacher, Mr Green, about the rubbish. Mr Green thought it was a great idea to help and told Tom to start a weekend eco-club. Tom quickly made some bright posters about the club and put them up on the walls in the school library.
On the first Saturday morning, Tom waited by the school gates. He was worried because he thought nobody would help. Suddenly, twelve students arrived with warm clothes and big bags! They spent three hours collecting rubbish. It rained a bit, and the work was tiring, but they actually had a lot of fun together.
Now, the school playground is a clean and safe place to play. Because of their hard work, the head teacher gave the eco-club some money as a thank you. Next month, Tom and his friends are going to use the money to buy small trees and plant them. Tom is very proud of his team.

Painting a Greener Town
Fifteen-year-old Jamie has always loved art and nature. Every day on his walk to school, he looked at the old, dirty walls in his town. He thought they were very ugly. Because he wanted to protect the environment, Jamie had a great idea. He decided to paint beautiful pictures and eco-friendly messages on the walls.
First, Jamie needed permission. He spoke to his art teacher, Mrs. Smith, and she helped him write a letter to the town council. A few weeks later, the council said yes. They even gave Jamie a little money to buy special paint that doesn’t hurt the environment. Jamie was very excited and asked his classmates to help him.
On Saturday morning, ten teenagers met in the town centre. They worked all weekend. They painted big green forests, blue oceans, and the words “Keep Our Town Clean”. The weather was very hot, and painting all day was tiring work. However, they listened to music, ate sandwiches, and had a fantastic time together.
