The Teenager Who Painted to Protect the Monkeys
Fifteen-year-old Ben lives near a beautiful national park. He usually spends his weekends walking in the forest and watching the wild monkeys. Last summer, Ben noticed a big problem. Many tourists were giving their sandwiches and biscuits to the monkeys. The visitors thought it was fun, but human food can make wild animals very sick.
Ben wanted to help the monkeys, so he decided to use his drawing skills. In his bedroom, he spent hours creating large educational posters. He painted pictures of the monkeys eating natural food like fruit and leaves. Under the pictures, he wrote a clear message telling people to keep their snacks inside their bags.
The next day, Ben took his colourful posters to the park manager. The manager thought it was a brilliant idea. Together, they spent the afternoon putting the posters on big trees and wooden doors near the park entrance, where all the visitors could easily see them.
After a few weeks, Ben’s project was a great success. The tourists stopped giving their food to the animals, and the monkeys went back deep into the forest to find their own meals. Ben felt incredibly proud of his hard work. Next month, he hopes to start a new project to protect the sea turtles on the local beach.

Saving the Sea Birds
Sixteen-year-old Leo lives in a small town near the sea. He usually spends his weekends surfing or playing beach volleyball. But last month, a terrible thing happened. A large ship hit some rocks and lost a lot of black oil. The oil travelled to the beach and covered many beautiful sea birds.
Leo felt very sad about the animals, so he decided to volunteer. He went to a local wildlife centre to help. First, the doctors there taught the teenagers how to hold the frightened birds safely. Then, they showed them how to use a special soap and warm water to wash the oil off the birds’ wings.
The work was incredibly difficult and dirty. Leo had to stand for many hours, and his arms got very tired. Sometimes, it took an hour to completely clean just one small bird. However, Leo didn’t complain. He felt fantastic every time he watched a healthy bird fly back up into the blue sky.
