Helping Dogs Find Homes

Fifteen-year-old Leo has two main interests in life: animals and photography. While his classmates take pictures of themselves or their food, Leo prefers taking his camera to the park. Last month, he visited a local animal rescue centre and felt very sad. The centre was full of stray dogs, and many of them waited months for a new family.

Leo wanted to help the centre, so he decided to use his photography skills. He started going to the rescue centre every Saturday morning. Toby’s Little Rescue

Fourteen-year-old Toby loves spending time outdoors. While his friends usually stay inside playing video games after school, Toby prefers walking his dog in the local park. He really enjoys looking at the different trees and wild animals.

One afternoon last month, Toby saw something small on the grass. It was a beautiful wild bird, and it could not fly because it had a broken wing. Toby felt very sorry for the little creature. He carefully picked it up, put it inside his warm coat, and carried it home.

When he arrived, his mother helped him. They did not have a birdcage, so they put a soft towel inside a large cardboard box. They placed the box quietly in Toby’s bedroom. His mother phoned a local vet, who told them exactly what to give the bird to eat.

For the next three weeks, Toby worked very hard. He woke up early every morning to give the bird fresh water and special seeds. Finally, the bird’s wing was completely better.
