Reading Online Restaurant Reviews
Liam
I love Korean barbecue, so I always read food blogs before trying a new place. A few months ago, a website wrote about a great meat buffet in my city. Now, I go there every weekend! I don’t really care about the camera shots of the food. I actually enjoy reading lots of words. However, it makes me really mad when the writer forgets to talk about the bill. You need to know how much cash to bring! When I return home from a dinner, I always add my own message at the bottom of the webpage.
Maya
I am a huge fan of spicy Thai food, like green papaya salad. Before I visit a new dining spot, I always check the internet. If a review has too many paragraphs, I just close the app immediately. I want fast information! I also don’t trust famous writers who travel here from other countries. I only believe opinions from men and women who actually live in this town. I never worry if a meal is expensive, so I skip the money details. I already know the waiters at my usual restaurant, but it is fun to try different places.
Sam
Finding good spicy fried chicken with chili powder is hard, so food blogs are very useful. I hate reading big stories, so I usually just open the articles to look at the bright images of the plates. That shows me if the chicken looks tasty! It is also really important for me to learn if the waiters and managers are polite to guests. I haven’t discovered my number one restaurant yet, but I will keep looking. Even when I have an amazing dinner, I never write my own comments online because I am too busy.

Following the News Online
Kevin
I use a free app on my phone to learn about what is happening in the world. I don’t spend any cash on it. Most news websites have too many words, which makes me bored. I like my app because it has huge, colorful pictures of places and people. That is much better for me! When I find a great story about animals or the environment, I always send a link to my parents and sister. They really enjoy reading them. My friends often play the news on the bus, but I prefer looking at the screen.
Lara
My older brother reads global news on his tablet every single morning. I don’t have time to do that during the busy school days, so I just catch up on Saturdays and Sundays. I downloaded a really good app, but it isn’t free. I have to give two pounds a month to use it. It is great because a person reads the reports out loud. I put my headphones on and hear the information while I am walking my dog. It is much easier than looking at a screen. I mostly follow news about sports and weather.
Mateo
I check my favourite news application every evening after dinner. I want to be an engineer one day, so I always search for information about new mobile phones, fast cars, and people travelling to other planets. I completely ignore stories about fashion or sports! Reading these articles is also fantastic for my geography classes. We often have to talk about different countries, and my app gives me lots of great facts to use. The application is full of text, so there aren’t many images, but I don’t mind reading long paragraphs at all.

Learning Languages Through Games
Marco
I started using this fun language program last month to get ready for my big French assessment at school. It is much better than reading a boring textbook! I usually play it on my phone while I am on the bus every morning. It makes the ride go so fast. The puzzles are great for learning how to build sentences. However, I think the higher stages are not easy. The jump from stage three to four is crazy! I don’t play it with my sister because she is studying a different language.
Elena
I love playing this game in my bedroom after dinner. The best thing is collecting digital gold coins when you get an answer right. You can use them to unlock cool hats for your online character! I know it is supposed to teach you how to write correctly. The rules for building sentences are okay, but actually, I think the app is much better for remembering how to say different items and objects. The questions are usually quite simple, so I never get stressed. Sadly, it costs three pounds to download, but it is worth it.
Julian
This app is fantastic! My Spanish teacher told me to download it, and I am so glad it was totally zero cost. I didn’t spend any of my pocket money to get it. I don’t really care about getting online points or digital rewards. Instead, my dad and I have our own little competition at home. We sit on the sofa and try to see who can get the highest score in the grammar puzzles! We do it every weekend. We never play it when we are walking or driving because we like to concentrate.
