Visiting the Old Lighthouse

Liam

I really wanted to visit this famous building, so my family went across the sea on a small ship to reach it. The tickets cost a lot of money, so it wasn’t a cheap day out. I wanted to see wild birds on the dangerous rocks, but there was nothing there. It was actually a terrible time for sightseeing because there were dark clouds and heavy rain! Inside, I read an interesting book about the building’s history. Climbing the high stairs wasn’t frightening for me, but my sister didn’t like it.

Sophia

My parents and I drove our car to the lighthouse last weekend. There is a little store next to the entrance, but it wasn’t open, so I couldn’t get a toy or a postcard to take home. When we went inside, a very friendly man who cleans the building told us some amazing stories about the ships and the rocks. Going up the steps to the light room was really hard. It is very high, and I felt quite scared until we reached the top! The views from there were brilliant, though.

Mateo

I visited the lighthouse on a lovely sunny afternoon. I didn’t sail there; I just walked along the beach. Because I am a university student, I didn’t have to give them the full amount of cash for my ticket, which was great! While I was looking out at the dangerous rocks, I noticed some grey dolphins playing in the waves! It was a fantastic surprise. Before leaving, I found a beautiful picture of the lighthouse in the gift shop and got it to put on my bedroom wall.

Climbing the Clock Tower

Jamie

I went to the famous clock tower on Tuesday. Because it was an afternoon out with my history teacher and the rest of my class, we didn’t have to pay for our tickets. That was great! However, there were so many tourists there that we stood in the street for nearly an hour before we could finally enter the building. Going up the stairs wasn’t too bad, and we loved seeing the heavy metal bells. I wanted to use my phone to remember the amazing views of the streets below, but its battery was dead!

Clara

My parents and I visited the clock tower last weekend. We bought our entry passes on the internet, so we walked straight inside without waiting. There is no lift, and the 300 steps were really difficult for me! My legs were hurting by the time we arrived at the very top. When the huge bells finally rang, the noise was incredible. Some small children covered their ears, but I wasn’t afraid at all. Before we walked back down, I took my camera out and got some fantastic photos of the roads and houses far below us.

Finn

I love exploring old buildings, but the ticket for the clock tower was twenty pounds! That is a very high price for a short visit. I play football every day, so climbing all those stairs to the roof was actually quite easy for me. However, when we got to the bell room, there were no windows or lamps. It was completely black in there, so I couldn’t really look at the metal bells at all. Suddenly, they started to ring. The sound was so loud and unexpected that it made me jump. I was quite frightened for a minute!

Visiting the National Stadium

Liam

I visited the national stadium last week. It is incredibly large! In fact, I couldn’t locate my chair for twenty minutes because the place is so huge. Once the match started, everyone shouted and sang the whole time, so my ears actually hurt! It was a great atmosphere, though. I had to wear a thick winter coat and gloves because of the freezing wind, so remember to dress warmly if you go. My friend wanted to get a team hat from the shop, but it was already closed. Next time, we will arrive earlier.

Noah

Watching our national team play there is always amazing. The stadium is right in the city center. We didn’t drive our car because of the traffic; instead, we caught the train, which stopped just outside the gates. We walked straight to our places without any problems, unlike some people who got lost! Luckily, the sun was shining and it was quite warm. During the break, I wanted to get a burger and some hot chips. However, I didn’t buy anything because the prices were much too high for my pocket money!

Ethan

The new sports stadium is a fantastic building. My uncle got two tickets for my birthday, so we went together to see the big match. Before we went inside, we looked at the sports store near the entrance. I used my savings to get a nice blue team shirt to wear during the game! It wasn’t as noisy as I expected, perhaps because the stadium is completely open at the top. We brought our own snacks from home, so we didn’t spend anything on food. I definitely want to return next season.
