Eco-Friendly Paper Shopping Bags

Alice

I visited the new clothes shop yesterday. The assistant gave me a free paper bag for my new t-shirt. I was so happy because the picture on the outside looks so pretty. I didn’t want to throw it in the bin! Now, I take it to the library to carry my reading books. It got a little wet when I walked home in the rain, but the paper is quite thick so it didn’t break. I think it is much better than a plastic bag.

Ben

I went to the same store to get some winter sweaters. They only have one type of bag, which is a problem. They should make tiny ones for socks and huge ones for big jackets! Also, it cost me fifty pence. I was quite angry to pay for paper! The bag looks cool, but it isn’t very good. While I was walking to the bus station, a large hole appeared in the bottom and my clothes fell out! It just cannot hold things that weigh a lot. I threw it in the recycling bin.

Carla

The new eco-friendly bags at the clothes shop are fantastic. I bought some winter boots there, and the bag carried them perfectly without breaking. The best thing is that the paper has a special covering. When a storm started on my way home, the water couldn’t get inside, so my new things stayed completely dry. When you empty the bag, you can fold it flat. It becomes so thin that I can just push it into my tiny jacket pocket. The size was perfect for my shopping, so I really like it.

The Temptation of Window Shopping

Leo

I love walking around the big shopping centre with my classmates. We look at all the amazing clothes in the windows. To stop myself from buying things I don’t need, I always use a piece of paper. I note down exactly what I must get, like a new pen for school, and I don’t buy anything else! Well, that’s almost true. While my friends spend all their cash on expensive t-shirts, I usually end up getting a slice of pizza or an ice cream. I can never say no to a delicious treat!

Maya

I never actually walk down the high street to look at store windows. Instead, I love looking at fashion websites on my laptop. It is very easy to click and buy everything when you are bored! To stop myself, I give my bank card to my mum to hold for me. When I see a beautiful dress, I just put it in my online basket. I don’t pay immediately. I wait until the next week. Usually, after a few days, I realize I don’t really want it anyway!

Sam

Window shopping is very dangerous for me! I always tell myself that I will just look, but I usually come home with shopping bags. Yesterday, I saw a green jacket in a window. I didn’t need another one, but it was on special offer, so I paid for it immediately! Now, I only go to the mall if my older sister comes with me. She is very careful with money. When I want to get something silly, she tells me to put it back. It is the best way to save my money!

Trying on Clothes with a Smartphone

Jake

I love clothes, but I hate trying them on in town. Using my phone camera to see how things look on my body is amazing. In the past, I posted boxes of trousers and shirts back to the store every week because they looked terrible on me. Since I started using this app, I keep almost everything I buy! I prefer to choose things alone, so I never message the photos to anyone. My cousin is getting married next month, so I am looking for a nice suit on my screen right now. I spend hours looking at different ones!

Nina

I work from Monday to Saturday, so I can never go to the shopping centre before it closes. That is why this virtual fitting room is perfect for me. At first, it took me a long time to learn how to open it, but now it is great. I only buy everyday things like jeans and sweaters, never for weddings or big events. Whenever I wear a digital dress on my screen, I always send the image to my sisters to see if they like it. It is great to hear what they think before I pay!

Carlos

I am not very good with computers. I usually find modern phone programs very confusing, so I didn’t expect this virtual clothes app to be so incredibly easy! I first noticed it when an advertisement played on a video website, and I decided to download it. It is excellent for seeing if a bright red or dark blue matches my hair and face. However, it is hard to know if a jacket will be too large or small for my body. Because of this, I still have to return some items by post if they do not fit right.
