New Programs for Online Videos

Alex

I love watching videos on the internet, but some are too long. I built a computer program that listens to videos and writes a short text about them. It is great because people can use it without giving me any cash! At the moment, my software only works with clips that are under five minutes. It stops working if the film is too long. A girl from my class helped me test it, but I did all the computer work myself. One day, I hope a famous tech group will give me a lot of money to own my app.

Sarah

Making an app to write down the words from online movies is hard work. My program listens to the speaker and then writes the text on your screen. It is brilliant for smartphones, so you can easily read the information while you are on the bus. Also, it can understand English and quickly change the words into French, Spanish, or German. It costs two dollars to download, so it is quite cheap. I don’t want to give my app to anyone else because I really enjoy owning it and improving it every week.

David

There are many long videos on the internet for learning. I wanted to make a tool that listens to these films and makes short, easy notes from them. I didn’t do it alone. My older brother is very good at computers, and we worked on it together every weekend. It is a fantastic tool for people who are taking college classes and need to study for big exams. I prefer watching videos on a large laptop, not a mobile phone, so my app looks best on a big computer monitor. Next year, we will add a tool to understand more languages!

Being a Video Creator

Leo

I make comedy videos every week. Before I turn on the camera, I put all my sentences on paper so I know exactly what to say. I only shoot my films inside my bedroom, but I sometimes take my laptop to the park later. Working on my computer to cut the clips and make them look good takes the whole weekend! It is the hardest part. I used to put pop tracks in my videos, but it made my voice difficult to hear, so I don’t do that anymore.

Nina

I love creating fashion videos. When I need a new subject, I just read the messages from my fans to see what they want me to wear next! I don’t plan every word before I film; I just look at a short list of ideas. Recently, I bought a large, expensive camera, so I don’t record with my mobile phone now. Making the final video on my computer is actually really fast for me. To finish it, I always add some cool tunes quietly in the background so it is not boring.

Oscar

My channel is all about sports and games. Because I need a lot of space to run around, I always record my clips at the park or the beach. I don’t use heavy cameras because they are difficult to carry. Instead, I prefer using my smartphone to shoot everything. When I am doing something difficult, like throwing a ball, my older brother holds the device for me. I usually ask my school mates what game I should play next, and then we try to make it look great!

Online Car Review Channels

Ryan

I watch ‘Fast Lane Motors’ almost every evening. The guy in the videos is always telling jokes and doing silly things, so I never get bored. They drive amazing fast cars, but they never show you how to repair engines, which is fine by me because I don’t know much about mechanics anyway. They don’t have a special day for new content; they just put things online when they are ready. Last month, I spent my pocket money on a cool T-shirt they showed on screen. It has a great picture of a sports car on the back!

Tom

My favorite channel is called ‘Turbo Speed’. My older brother loves sports cars as much as I do, so we always sit on the sofa and view them at the same time. The presenters are quite serious, not funny at all, but they know everything about fast vehicles. There is always fresh content to watch every Friday afternoon, so we know exactly when to look. My only problem is that they usually play for over forty minutes. I’d prefer them to end sooner, especially when I have lots of school homework to finish before dinner.

Kyle

I highly recommend ‘Street Racers UK’. What makes this channel different is that instead of just driving them on special racing areas, the host takes the sports cars into the city to see how they handle normal traffic. It is really interesting! Also, he gives great advice on keeping your own vehicle working perfectly. I used his tips to repair the brakes on my old car yesterday. I usually watch it alone in my bedroom because my family doesn’t care about driving. They sell hats on the channel, but I haven’t got enough cash for that yet.
