Movie Magic in the Local Park
My name is Lucas, and I am fifteen years old. I have always loved watching films. Unfortunately, the only cinema in our town closed last year. Because of this, people can never watch movies together on a big screen anymore. I wanted to change this situation, so I decided to organise an outdoor movie night.
First, I had to find the right equipment and a good place. I wrote a letter to the town council, and they said I could use the local park. I didn’t have a projector to show the film, but luckily, my science teacher, Mr Davies, lent me one from the school. After that, I designed some posters and put them in the supermarket windows.
On Saturday evening, the weather was warm and dry. More than fifty neighbours arrived at the park. They brought comfortable blankets and lots of snacks. We watched a famous comedy. At the beginning, the sound was too quiet, but I quickly fixed the computer, and then everything was perfect. Everyone laughed a lot.
When the movie finished, all the visitors clapped loudly. They asked me to organise another event soon. Now, I am planning to show a different film in the park on the first Saturday of every month during summer. I felt a bit worried before the event, but now I feel incredibly proud of my successful idea!

A Colourful Earth Day
Every April, the people in my town celebrate Earth Day. Usually, my family just goes to the park to listen to the live music and eat picnic food. However, this year, my science teacher asked the students to do something helpful for the environment. I decided to plant some colourful flowers in the town square.
On Friday afternoon, my dad drove me to the local garden centre. There were hundreds of beautiful plants, but I quickly chose some bright yellow and red ones. My dad paid for everything, and I carefully carried the heavy boxes to our car. I was very excited for the next day.
When we arrived at the town square on Saturday morning, it was already busy. I found a nice place near the fountain and started working. Digging the holes in the ground was actually quite difficult, and my hands got very dirty. But the weather was sunny, and I loved chatting with my neighbours while I worked.
By the afternoon, the town square looked absolutely fantastic. When we finished, the mayor gave all the volunteers a free slice of cake to say thank you. I felt incredibly tired, but I was also very proud of my hard work. Next spring, I am going to try growing vegetables in my own garden at home!

When a Big Town Becomes a Family
My name is Sarah, and I am fifteen years old. I live in a very large and busy town. Usually, people here are always in a hurry. They drive to work, go to the supermarket, and return home. Most people don’t know their neighbors. However, everything changes when we have a local festival.
Last week, we had our special Summer Food Festival. The police closed the main streets so cars couldn’t use them. Everyone walked outside to celebrate. My family and I made a lot of cakes and shared them with the people on our street. Everyone was smiling and laughing together.
At school, teenagers usually only talk to their close friends. But during the festival, it was completely different. I spent hours chatting with an old lady who lives next to the post office. We listened to live music and danced in the street. For that weekend, the whole town felt like one big, happy family.
I am writing a school essay about this experience. I want to explain why these local events are so important. They help us make new friends and learn about the people who live near us. Our town is very big, but a good festival can make it feel exactly like home.
